"I called in the morning to check if they had it available for takeout. The woman who answered the phone wasn’t very pleasant, but she did confirm they would be serving it and advised me to call back later in the afternoon. When I called back around 12:30, I was put on hold for so long that I thought they had forgotten about me. I was about to hang up and try again when she finally returned to the line, sounding quite annoyed as she took my order. When I arrived, the restaurant was empty apart from the staff. I waited for a bit and then approached the bar, where the same unfriendly woman handed me my order without even greeting me or saying anything pleasant. At home, I was stunned by what I found: the worst boiled dinner I’ve ever seen. The vegetables were barely cooked, if at all. I struggled to cut through the carrots, cabbage, and potatoes. Honestly, if I wanted raw vegetables, I could have done that myself. The brisket wasn’t good either. I ended up repurposing the potatoes into a chowder I was making, and my dining partner reluctantly ate the carrots. We attempted to eat the cabbage, but it was completely uncooked. Yuck. The portion size was also ridiculously small—though I guess that was for the best since it was inedible. It wasn’t worth the price, even if it had been edible. I will never return. It’s baffling to think that someone would brave going out just to get a boiled dinner, only to be met with rudeness and such a poor meal. I was able to go somewhere else, but I can’t help but think that many others might have stayed home, hoping for a decent takeout meal. Spud's really dropped the ball."
