"Our chef prepared delicious food, and I have no complaints there. However, after about an hour, the staff and owner began rushing us out because they had overbooked. This is not my fault. I requested a dessert that they usually serve quite well, only to be told the freezer wasn’t working. Then the manager informed me that they weren’t serving dessert due to the number of people waiting. It was confusing. I ordered another drink, and honestly, if I had gotten my dessert, I would have left sooner.
I understand that restaurants can get busy, but diners should generally expect at least the standard 90 minutes before being pushed out. Near the end of our drinks, the staff asked us to relocate to a table on the non-hibachi side so that a group waiting could take our table. This made no sense; if they were truly waiting, their reservation for our table would have been just a half hour after we were seated!
I love Ichiban, but I’m uncertain about returning. If I do, it will likely only be to use my VIP points—I have a VIP card, which shows how often I visit. They also added an 18% tip for our group of five. To top it off, as we were leaving, the owner was discussing us with the guests who were taking our table. It was very unprofessional."
