"We met friends to celebrate my husband and my 50 birthday. I was a little disappointed with the ambiance of the restaurant. It was very average. Trying to be a fine dining establishment, but falling short. First, we were put into a secluded corner. This would be a great table, however, it was right beside the door that went out to the patio and second, we were right by the waiter/waitress station. People were going in and out and by the end of our dinner, the sunlight was shinning on to our table, creating a blinding moment for my friends husband each time the door opened. As for the food, I thought it could have been better. I had their special, Halibut on Spaetzle ( a German noodle). The Halibut was about an inch and a half wide and four inches long and I had no Spaetzle, instead they put the fish no top of spaghettini. So disappointing and it was very average tasting. My husband liked his chicken and our friends shared a meat dish with beets. They said it was "alright".I am happy that I tried Nineteen XIX, but I won't be back. Edmonton has too many fine dining restaurants that that are amazing. My suggestion is to try Nineteen XIX as a last minute, when your first, second and third choice restaurants are booked."
