"I visited the deli department with the intention of ordering a sandwich and stood in line for quite some time. An older Asian woman was cleaning the deli area, and another staff member an older African American lady) was moving back and forth, which I assumed was due to restocking. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I asked if they were open. The employee informed me that the chicken and macaroni side of the deli was open, but the sandwich section was closed. I inquired about the closing time, and she mentioned they close at 7:00 PM daily. It was 6:15 PM at the time, and she explained that the older woman had closed the sandwich area because she was getting off soon. I asked why the older woman didn’t say anything to me, as she clearly saw me waiting. The employee responded, She probably thought I mentioned something to you, and then turned away. While this conversation was happening, other customers in line overheard and asked if the deli was closed. I told them that, yes, the sandwich section was closed. It seemed to me that both employees may have coordinated the closure prematurely they seemed to be in cahoots with each other). I decided to continue with my shopping but felt it was necessary to address the situation. I spoke with John, the manager, to share my experience. I explained how the employees’ actions were rude not only to me but also to the other customers waiting not acknowledging or letting us know the deli sandwich side was closed when it wasn’t supposed to) John assured me that he would speak with the staff involved. If the deli sandwich section is meant to close at 7:00 PM, I believe there should be someone assigned to cover that area until closing time. I hope the situation is addressed appropriately."
