"Bedouin Tent – A Cozy Middle Eastern Gem on Atlantic Avenue Bedouin Tent is a charming, on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, well known for its comforting Middle Eastern cuisine and unexpectedly popular pizzas. It’s one of those neighborhood spots that feels authentic and welcoming, with a laid-back atmosphere that makes you want to linger. Atmosphere Setting. From the outside, the restaurant looks small and unassuming, with just a few tables in the main room and an open kitchen where you can see the cooks at work. The real surprise, however, is the backyard garden, which offers a much larger seating area. Decorated with vibrant Middle Eastern fabrics and colorful touches, it has an intimate, cozy feel that many diners love. Especially on warmer days. Service. Guests are generally welcomed warmly and treated like regulars, even on a first visit. The service is straightforward and friendly, with staff happy to answer questions about the menu. While it’s not a formal dining experience, the hospitality is genuine, and small touches, like being offered complimentary mint tea at the end of the meal, make the visit memorable. Menu Food. The menu is not overly large, but it offers a well-balanced variety of sandwiches, soups, pizzas, and traditional Middle Eastern plates. Lamb Shoulder Plate: A standout dish, served with fragrant rice, hummus, or baba ghanoush (you can get both for a small extra charge). The lamb is thinly sliced and cooked through, perhaps a bit well done for some palates, but tender and flavorful for those who prefer it that way. The rice is spiced just right, making the plate hearty and satisfying. The hummus and baba ghanoush are different from the Turkish or Persian versions, earthy, smokier, and distinctive in flavor. Fans of Mediterranean food will notice the difference, but many find it refreshing and enjoyable, fresh pita bread baked in-house and perfect for scooping up dips as served with the dish. Pizza: One of the restaurant’s surprises is its pizza menu. The shrimp and tomato pizza stands out, generously topped and layered with a flavorful sauce. The crust is a matter of taste, those who like it thin and crispy Italian-style may find it softer than expected, while others love its texture and flavor. Either way, it’s a unique offering that blends Mediterranean flavors with a classic comfort food. Overall Experience. Dining at Bedouin Tent is not just about the food, but also about the ambiance and authenticity. It feels like a neighborhood staple where friends and families gather. The portions are generous, the prices reasonable, and the backyard setting makes it feel almost like a hidden oasis on Atlantic Avenue. Final Thoughts. Our experience was excellent. We came in for a late lunch before heading to a show at the Beacon Theatre, and Bedouin Tent turned out to be a perfect stop, warm hospitality, flavorful food, and a relaxed vibe. With its combination of traditional Middle Eastern dishes and unique pizzas, it’s the kind of place worth returning to, whether for a casual meal or to introduce friends to something a little different.
