"I ordered for the first time today a Saturday)1 at 6:25pm. Pretty empty. Tables sticky when I waited for the food. Didn't matter to me too much the overall decor was pleasant. I ordered at 6:25 they estimated 10-15 minutes. My food wasn't done until 6:50. That's fine, under half an hour for take out is usually acceptable especially cause this is a restaurant not a fast food take out place. It seemed like it was a dad and son running the place and that made it pretty authentic. Polite and respectful. However they don't seem like they have a lot of business. As for the food I ordered chicken biryani and chicken curry. I'm hoping this will beat zaikas and maliks for Indian food as it is very close to my house. It has 4.5 star rating before I even tried it. They gave me mango chutney for me to try in a little container. Everything was neatly packaged in the bag to go. Yes! Those tight sealed containers that I can reuse! Portions didn't seem too right for he chicken curry. They left out the plain naan that's supposed to be included with the curry. Oh no. Chicken biryani doesn't look like how it's supposed to. The chicken is roasted chicken almost like a tandoori which I definitely wanted to avoid. Not the type you use in biryani! I feel like I ordered chicken tandoori with rice. And I hate tandoori unfortunately! Doesn't mix well. Garlic Naan was thick. Different than any Naans I had which are normally thinner. It makes it more bready than it needs to but I don't mind. Chicken curry was more of a sauce than curry. The sauce was thin fell off my fork. Ugh! Really Disappointed!! REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS PLACE! Came here starving after not eating all day didn't even finish anything they gave me. Ugh! Maybe they thought they could get away with serving me this cause I'm not Indian! Not worth $24.82 : plus the $2 tip"

"My gf and I had been looking for Indian cuisine for date night, and this one had a great Yelp review rating. Unfortunately, our experience was very underwhelming. The food itself was relatively tasty, which is why I shied away from giving it an overall Poor rating, but between the service and cleanliness, we probably won 't be back for a second try. When we walked in, the place was pretty empty (it was 7pm on a Saturday). We were seated quickly, but weren 't given menus as we were sat. We had to wait about 6 7 minutes before someone else (not our original server) came by and asked if we would like menus. When we looked at our silverware, we noticed that our knives looked like they 'd barely been cleaned at all there was dried residue of a previous meal on my girlfriend 's. When we went to order drinks, we were told the beer refrigerator had broken, and so they only had a very limited number of cold beer options (which was a bummer, because the beer selection actually looked good). I ordered one of the cold options available, but upon asking for a second round, was told they no longer had any of those cold. As for the food, my girlfriend had the Chicken Korma, and compared to mine her chicken was dry. I ordered the Chicken Curry, which was tasty and not dry, but not cubed per the menu. Fortunately, since my girlfriend didn 't want much rice, we were able to share the one bowl we were given, although no one ever asked us if we needed more. Back to the drinks...when we did order a second round (flagging down another server to do so), it took 10 minutes before the drinks arrived, and my girlfriend could see hers sitting on the bar waiting to be brought over for about 5 of those. When we were ready to leave, again we had to wait and flag down a random server, who brought us the check and did oblige the Free Glass of Wine with Yelp Check In, maybe the best part of the meal? As we were leaving, our original server appeared and asked if we needed the check...lol."

"When you go to eat at any restaurant and you finish your delicious food, and then instead of just paying the bill you place another order of other items you didn't try, I think is a pretty good sign that the food was excellent. That happened to my family and myself at Alhamra!! I agree that the place is very modest inside, but the food makes up for it many times over. If you can overlook that and enjoy your company and food then you should be ok. Is not that it's dirty but more of old furniture and so so lighting. Now to the food, any curry item I think is simply delicious, creamy, great aromas and tender pieces of chicken (which is the item we order the most). The chicken Tikka Masala and the chicken Chana are incredible!! The vegetarian section is really tasty also, my son loves the Mushroom Mutter is excellent. The Tandoori chicken and prawns are succulent, the meat on each super tender and just full of great flavor. Nan, ohhh the nan, I think they make each order as it is ordered, perhaps I am wrong but it tastes fresh and great!! The first time we went there the server was confused as to why we ordered like 4 different styles of it, he even said that it was a lot of food, but we love tasting different things. The vegetable Samosas are big and delicious, the sauces they bring for them, one red and the green sauce are superb. I also tried the Papadam, which is a sun dried lentil flavored wafer, which to me had a strong and yet delicious cumin flavor. All in all, an excellent food experience, and the prices are really good for the quality of food you are getting, the portions are not huge and you leave feeling satisfied. At least for us is worth the 29 mile drive to have delicious food!!"
