"We were excited for fine dining in our trip to the Berkshires and saw 1894 had availability and a tasting menu with wine pairings. Ultimately, the wine selection was mediocre (not really paired well), and the food was decent but nothing great. With the truffle risotto it seemed like the cooked the truffle into the risotto which killed the flavor and likely used a jarred truffle or frozen truffle butter. Smoked mushroom chitarra was actually just fettuccine with butter on it and some chopped mushrooms, and dry… no smoke flavor, so again, not great. Scallops were slightly over cooked, duck was solid. What would have gone great with the intermezzo sorbet was a splash of bubbly in it. Service was great but they were mostly clueless about the wine. I would give it another try, just in case the chef was having an off night, but I would set my expectations much lower the next time."
