"Service was spectacular from Rachelle, she was a super star. The food was okay, but like everything at this particular resort it is overpriced and lacking soul. The sandwiches come with fries by default but when you ask there are a ton of options to sub in. I went with a salad (better pairing with seared ahi) but wish that rice and Mac salad was available. There are a number of Keiki options, including catch of the day, but again fries centric meal options devalue what could be a healthy and interesting option."

"Our absolute favorite!! We often make special trips from pahoa to go to Reubens. (There's a Mexican resturant in Pahoa that people usually drive long distances to eat at, but we like Reubens much more! We've went with just two of us and and with all 6 children, always being very happy with the service provided! Love that they have a children's menu with chicken nuggets, juice box and ice cream! It's so easy to please picky children and still satisfy our Mexican food cravings. You MUST try their lava cake and fried ice cream, they also have the best flan. their Ling Hing Mui margaritas are amazing!!"

"Menu was basic, nothing stood out as unusual, local or particularly flavorful. Pretty basic for the price, even in Maui. For example, “local” ceviche was shrimp ceviche, featured fish was mahi mahi, which is fine I guess in most places but a let down when you’re in Hawaii. Expensive cocktails at $23 ea. Servers were nice but didn’t consider our reservation request until we arrived, which was too late. Pretty views. Not bad for a poolside bar, but I will look elsewhere in the future."

"We were staying at the Wailea Beach Resort, so we stopped in here for both lunch and dinner. Both times I made a reservation through Open Table, but we didn't need it. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the open-air atmosphere was wonderful! My husband claims they had the best fries in Maui! I have celiac so I adhere to a gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free diet. Our server, Rene, was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped me figure out what my options were. At lunch, I had a modified version of the avocado toast (on gluten free bread) and really enjoyed it, but was still hungry so I ordered the acai bowl. It was great! Sadly, I had to leave off the granola because it wasn't gluten free but the rest was lovely. When we came back for dinner, I ordered the pan seared chicken breast. Our server said I was able to eat the dish as-is, so I had it with the garlic rice, coconut curry sauce, and local vegetables. It was very good! Overall, I recommend!"

"The food wasn’t bad but unfortunately I’ve found it hard to forgive their attention to service. I cannot ever recall a time that I consciously chose not to leave a tip. I am allowing for this period of post pandemic service but to be acknowledged on entry and then forgotten only to the point of seemingly nothing else to do. I felt like someone just wanted to say… “are you still here”? There was enough lag time after finally getting my order place to run across the street to a Mexican restaurant place the order, receive the order, carry it a block to my car then return to Ohana and take a seat and still wait. My last disappointment was to find the order was ready but it took some time for the server to take notice that I was still waiting. In being fair with this review, I’ll state again that the food wasn’t bad but there is another popular local Hawaiian which I think is much better. It was the attention to service that failed here and I regret I stopped in because I am not thrilled in making this review."

"Happy to find a Hawaiian food place in Anchorage. I ordered the mini plate combo and believe me if you think the mini won't satisfy you, you are mistaken. They load you up with food. I think my mini could've easily satisfied two people. For...my choices I went with chicken and Kahlua pig. They gave me three good sizes of chicken! And a nice helping of the pig. The pig was so damn good. Plus you get the mac salad and rice. Both of which were very good. I also added a Spam musubi to my order. That was very good but I felt like maybe they could cut the rice serving in it by half. The rice just kind of buried the Spam for my tastes, They also stock Hawaiian Sun drinks which I love. I'm guessing everyone is calling in orders or placing them online. I just walked in (with mask on) and ordered. It wasn't a long wait for my food. Staff were very friendly too. Great place."

"Definitely one of the best restaurants in Windsor. A selection of traditional Japanese inspired seafood, pork and noodle dishes to contemporary dishes and mixed drinks. I want to get the Ahi Poke because I like seafood and sashimi. They have a wide selection of beers and cocktails such as mai-tais and hurricanes (there is a melon pineapple colada), they certainly know their pigs, and if you are in the mood for fried food, they have some particularly large shrimps or chicken dishes. The owners (Head Host and Chef) are some of the most hospitable people I met in Northern Colorado- They really seem to enjoy the place where they work and the people they serve. Note that the place at 2 for a few hours for a break between lunch and dinner services"

"Mike and I haven’t been to Ohana in about a year or two. Today we stopped in for lunch as I was still pouting about coming home from O’ahu yesterday. So to somewhat continue illusion of the vacation I said let’s go to Ohana for lunch. Well it was just like I never left. Even tho I spied Matt as he dashed in and out of the restaurant. ?did I see a mustache on you, Matt. LOL. I have always loved the Kalua Pork. I especially like the cabbage with it. Family recipe me thinks. My little quilty pleasure is Lomi Lomi as well what I call Matt’s Ice Tea. As far as I’m concerned this is as close to Hawai’i plate lunch as you can get. Matt and Sandie has done a wondrous job of bringing a little island fare to Portland. Oh. You got to try the desserts! Love the Sweet Potatoe Haupia pie! It’s the bomb!"

"When one is a single it's often difficult getting a table that isn't small and up against a wall. That was the case during one breakfast. Although there were very nice, very available tables available. When I persisted, I was told there would be at least a 10 minute wait. The table I eventually sat at was always available and didn't need to be bused. I ordered Eggs Benedict, juice, and coffee. The poached eggs were under cooked and so slimy it was difficult to eat with a fork. The waitress brought the check with the food and never came by again to warm up or refill the coffee. That evening I had reservations that I made several weeks in advanced. I informed the reservationist it was my birthday and I would appreciate a window table. I reminded the Vista-level concierge three days before my reservation of that fact and she informed me she would let them know. When I showed for 6pm reservation I was told there were no window seats available but I could sit outside. I did. I ordered the NY ribeye with prawns, mashed potatoes, and mushrooms. The steak was NOT well prepared. Not cooked to order and EXTREMELY salty. The mushrooms were rubbery and the mashed potatoes were luke-warm. I never complained to the waitress and she was very nice. Clearly no-one knew it was my birthday. So it goes. Such a disappointment. I had one cocktail before dinner which was tasty. The bill came to $98 and I left $120. I have no intention of returning and going through that again."

"Bula Kava House stands as my top choice for hanging out with friends in Portland, boasting nearly a decade of patronage from my end. This spot has been a pivotal part of my recovery journey as an alcoholic, with kava playing a significant role in curbing my cravings. Pros: Atmosphere: The vibe is welcoming, and the seating options are ample, including a cozy couch area. It's an all ages establishment. Our kids have loved coming since they were 8 and def now that they are teens. They of course love the free WiFi. Entertainment: Regular music nights, trivia, and a showcase of local artists’ work keep the place lively. They also provide an assortment of board games, used books and art supplies. We have personally donated several games including Settlers of Catan, Forbidden Desert and several other larger group games. Staff: The employees are wonderful and contribute positively to the experience. Most are highly educated on the effects of and different kinds of Kava Strains. Flexibility: No time restrictions on hangouts, and they accommodate food deliveries. Location: Situated amidst a variety of food options. Cons: Pricing: The cost of raw kava has skyrocketed. Due to supply and demand and also environmental factors. Shells are comparable to a microbrew, though pitchers do offer some discount. Raw root powder is $40- $80 a lb. Sometimes root powder will be in the low $30s micronized will always be above $70. Limited Food Options: A simple snack platter would greatly enhance the experience and help counteract kava’s potential nausea-inducing effects. They already serve smoothies and oatmeal. A simple bread cheese veggie/fruit hummus board. We would never order takeout to be delivered if we had that option. When people start getting hungry it's annoying to have three or four different separate orders being delivered. I would change my review to a solid 5 if they would get on board with a snack tray. Furniture: The Portland location could benefit from an upgrade in its hangout spaces and furniture. Conclusion: Despite the increase in kava prices and the need for more food options, Bula Kava House remains a unique and enjoyable spot in Portland, contributing to the city’s vibrant and quirky character. With a few tweaks, it has the potential to offer an even better experience for its patrons."
