"Stopped in for lunch on a Monday, arriving towards the end of the lunch rush… they were still busy, but we were seated quickly. Our server (who was also the bartender) was great and very helpful. He also was very talented making the Spanish coffee drink they’re noted for, which is definitely a show!! Having never been here before, we didn’t know what they were known for, but came in due to all the very positive reviews. Turns out this is the oldest restaurant and bar in Portland and they’re known for turkey! They do turkey in many different ways and they do an excellent job with it! I tried their turkey enchilada soup and it was very tasty, with a little spicy kick to it. My entrée was their open-face turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and their sage stuffing. The stuffing was perfectly moist and flavorful! The turkey was all excellent, moist (not dry at all) and very flavorful!!! The gravy on top was also great… In all, this was an excellent turkey meal… it’s like experiencing a tasty Thanksgiving for lunch in May! Even their cranberry sauce (which I normally don’t like) was great, as it had orange in it to help with the normal bitterness of the cranberries. Highly recommend stopping in here for a historic visit to a great joint for lunch or dinner!"

"I enjoy going to Taos for Happy Hour with friends. I have also had a good lunch experience there before. They offer a nice selection of beer on tap and their wines are better than many other places in the area. The food is Asian fusion style and some dishes are quite delicious. My partner absolutely loves the swordfish dumplings. The appetizer sizes are generous for the price and it's fun to order a few and share them with the table. They recently removed some seating in the bar area to make space for larger communal tables. While not ideal, it can be slightly uncomfortable to have strangers sitting right next to you, especially if you're with a group of friends."

"I haven't been here in over 25 years and there's a reason why. Only went because I was invited to a birthday celebration. Not one person enjoyed their meal. This is on my list as the worst meal I ever had. Food is terrible and overpriced. I ordered the octopus appetizer for $26 and I couldn't eat it. It was slimy and tasteless. They brought me the wrong dinner entree, which I was lucky because another person at the table got my order and he said it was disgusting. It was swordfish and it was bad..the smell was awful. The veal dish was also inedible. I don't know why this place continues to be packed. People must not know good food. Service is terrible. Staff is rude. They look annoyed with any request. Much better choices in the area. Pass on Don Pepe II."

"On August 22, 2023, my family and I ordered a full tray of salad, garlic bread, and 2 pizzas from Tonino's in West Hampton. We were shocked to discover that the salad we received, which consisted mainly of lettuce with a few shredded carrots and chopped black olives, cost $95 plus tax. I spoke with Tony over the phone, who justified the high price. After some research, I found out that similar trays could be purchased for $50 to $65 elsewhere. Unfortunately, my son, who lives nearby, had already ordered from Tonino's without realizing the excessive cost. It's important to note that both customers and workers alike work hard for their money. However, the price of the salad from Tonino's seemed disproportionately high given its simple ingredients and lack of variety. This lack of tomatoes, onions, radishes, and other toppings made the price unjustifiable. Overall, I was disappointed with the value of our meal from Tonino's. Sincerely, Aida Wetzel."

"My husband and I always order breakfast from this place every weekend, but today we decided to go in person. I have to say that Ana Maria provided us with amazing customer service! She was helping out every single table in this place, but she was providing excellent customer service to every single one of her customers. In regards to the food here, it is very good and affordable. The coffee here is one of the best for me. I strongly recommend this place, not only because of the good food, but also for the great customer service you get! Also a shout out to Antonio who always takes our orders on the weekends and is also a very friendly and great worker! Great job Capitol Diner!!! My husband and I appreciate your hard work!"

"Luceti's Ave, thank you for the amazing meal tonight! The calamari and Salmon Picatta was to die for! Your staff was friendly and interactive. I want to give a special shout out to the young man who was the host that evening. He kept us apprised on when we could be seated, checked in on us a few times over our meal, and was fun to talk with."

"Used to be great until it was sold. Waited over 30 mins for cocktail. Asked hostess about it but she never circled back to check on us. Terrible martini. No garnish and too much vermouth. Waiter was fine and apologetic. Food was fair. I ordered a lobster role but waiter said “ I don’t know why that is on the menu. We never have it”. Would have been nice if cocktails had been compted. Used to be such a nice place with great service and food. 2nd time we have tried it here since sale. Not going back."

"Fantastic ambiance, awesome wine. We tried the 'Abstract ' Grenache, Syrah blend from California . Ohh wow! The appetisers were amazing the crab cake a must! The steak with peppercorn sauce was fabulous. The key lime pie was great. We highly recommend this restaurant. There 's also a kids menu, but to be honest, our little one was hooked on the corn bread. Wow! Amazing service too. We 'll definitely come again if in Raleigh."

"Went with three others yesterday for Tuesday tasting night. This was their first in 2023 and we had done this several times last year and enjoyed it. We always arrive early to claim a table for 4 as one of us is impaired with dementia and gets anxious when confronted with people they are not familiar with. So we claim a table and head to the patio to enjoy a glass of wine and appetizer before the tasting. This had never been a problem previously. Yesterday, when we came back into the restaurant from the patio to claim our designated table, we found it was pushed together with 2 other tables to accommodate a larger group. I asked the manager, who turned out to be the owner, why this happened, he replied that the wine tastings were community tables and there was nothing he would do for us as more people came than were anticipated. So we were forced to a large community table and it got worse from there. Funny thing, there turned out to be several no shows throughout the room. We could have easily been accommodated with our own table but he was unwilling. The tasting itself was unimpressive. Past tastings included a description of the wines with each food pairing. Did not happen yesterday, so we did not know which wines were being served and why with the cold piece of pizza, watery pasta dish and chewy lamb chops. For the all inclusive price of $35 plus mandatory 20% gratuity. But the best is yet to come. When we left the restaurant I told the owner I planned to tell all my friends and to Yelp him about our experience. He told me to f* of and never come back. Antonio, the deceased chef/owners name sake is rolling in his grave. I have never been treated so shabbily in a restaurant anywhere. There are numerous superior restaurant choices out there, skip this one."

"We have always enjoyed our experience at Friar Tuck's. This was our first visit this year.I made our reservations in advance and once again we are placed right by the kitchen. Staff bouncing back and forth making our dinner less then enjoyable. The bread sticks where stale, forgot the ice tea we ordered and forgot our salads. The water girl, and the cocktail server were delightful! We realize that these are trying times to be in the restaurant business but with less people in the restaurant serve should be spot on. We did not ask to be moved as we where trying to be cooperative during Covid protocol! You really should seek a better choice of starter then bread sticks. A nice basket of bread would be a much better option. Also why are baked potatoes becoming such a difficult item to order? We will return but hoping for better service and a different sitting location. Last year when I called to request specific sitting location I was told by a very rude reception person that I could ask for specific sitting. We are loyal guests at the Broad St. Inn this is our year with them. We have many out of town guests that join us for our getaway weekend Friar Tucks is always on evening activity. Please take this a constructive criticism not a rant. Our last few visits have been challenging with your service. Thank you"

"Tried Roccos for the first time. Hostess was friendly and got us seated timely. Our waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Everything looked good! The pizza the table split was very tasty and perfectly cooked. The pasta dishes all tasted fresh and the portion sizes were just enough to take some home for lunch the next day. Dessert options were great and were split between us. All in all a great night out!"

"The shrimp cocktail was delicious. The shrimp were all jumbo. 6 shrimp. If you like escargot, they make it for you there-slight hint of Pernod. Plenty of garlic and herbs. Not the best I've ever had but it was a decent attempt. The burger was definitely dreadful being overdone the bun was dry. The French fries were cold, soggy and tasted like frozen fries heated in an oven left out and then reheated in an attempt to save them. Awful for a restaurant of this caliper. The bartender knows how to make a very dry martini. I'd go back to try an entree. The blackened salmon sandwich was decent. But, alas, the same dreadful fries were served with it. Don't have the fries at lunch."

"We were staying down the street and wanted to walk to dinner. Saw this place on the way to the hotel and the hotel recommended it. I'm glad they did. Dinner was excellent. I love pesto, but not the creamy one. Pesto was on the menu and they said they made it both ways. I chose the traditional pesto, no cream. It was excellent. The other diner had a veal dish which he said was excellent. The salad wasn't drowning in dressing, it was nice and light. We said if we lived in the area we'd be eating here on a regular basis."

"We got two appetizers including the burrata and I can't remember the other one and my fiance got the chicken parmesan and I got the chicken piccata. The chicken piccata sauce was disappointing disappointing at best it tasted a little like dish detergent and the piece of chicken was pale and under seasoned almost boiled honestly laid within the pasta. Such a shame the desserts were fabulous"

"We love to take family and friends from the city here and also like to dine here for special occasions. We had family who came from the state and made reservations to take them here on the past Father's Day. Unfortunately, our experience of this visit was unfavourable. Although we had 6 reservations, it took some time to take place, although most of the main kitchen was surprisingly empty. We're not sure why we didn't sit in this main area, we felt like they wanted to keep us away from it. They sat at a table in a large room behind the restaurant between the bar area and the outdoor area, which seemed like a storage area that had no decoration or ambience, like the main room. We were the only party here for our entire stay. Servers and employees pass our table several times and it was 't until 20mins later someone finally recognized. Unfortunately, it was irresistible when the server seemed to wait on our table. She said something to effect, I guess I'll wait in you.... We are not a demanding group of people, we waited patiently and politely, so their behaviour and attitude towards us was unprecedented. She was rude, and she'd put things on the table. I understand the restaurants are understaffed and sensitive, but it wasn't as busy as it should have been for the father's day, nor was it inappropriate for us when we were polite and not inappropriate enquiries (we asked for a glass of water to fill in and she came back, hit a pitcher water on the location and went away). It is more annoying that my father died in May and my sister, who was with me, ransacked his stuff and later spread his ashes this week. I took us to this nice restaurant to celebrate my father's last father's day with my family, but the service that night was unacceptable and unproven and made me embarrassing and angry. It was a terrible experience that I did not return."
