"I hate writing bad reviews. I really do. But I don't get this place. The good? GLEN. Our server was awesome. Nice guy. Did a fantastic job. The bad? The food. Bland clam chowder. Overcooked, rubbery scallops, and sea bass that I had to season with table salt and pepper. Everything seemed prepared for the 4 o clock crowd at Furs Cafeteria. The only food win was the Boston Cream Pie. Holy cow. That was good. But the rest. Wow. I don't expect to have to season my own food at a high quality restaurant. It was a stunning disappointment."

"Overall, our dining experience at the restaurant was great except for the service provided by our waitress. After taking our order, she disappeared and we never saw her again. Our food was brought out by runners and when we asked for drinks, they never arrived. Eventually, we had to ask the hostess for water to accompany our meal. Our waitress never returned to our table on the deck, despite having other tables nearby in the same situation. We left a 12% tip, which was disappointing for me as I typically leave 20% or more. If she worked at my establishment, I would have her replaced. There was no excuse for her lack of attention, especially since the restaurant was not busy and the busboys were even running her food for her tables. What was she doing?"

"A few days ago, my daughter and I returned to Max, and the food was, as always, excellent. However, I was disappointed to see that two employees, including our waitress, were not wearing masks at all. Even though the waitress noticed that we were wearing masks—except when eating—she still didn't take it into account when she came to our table. My daughter asked me not to say anything about it, and I respected her wish. It’s disheartening that COVID-19 precautions are not being taken seriously at Max’s."

"Picked up a Crab Imperial, MahiMahi and Lobster dick for dinner. The person who took our order was helpful and polite and was willing to answer some of the questions I are most popular about the dishes and the options for preparation. After a short waiting period, one of our employees brought our food to our outdoor table where we ate. The lobster was well cooked (not over or under cooked), but I would have enjoyed more butter either as a post-prep-topping or on the side (bread butter). The mahi mahi was fantastic. Will definitely come back here to try some of the other fresh seafood options (I have my eye on the tuna)."

"Our visit was great. We had spent the day down on the beach, very windy and cool this day. We walked to the street and had to wait a small amount of time. We sat and visited quickly and from a wonderful waitress who definitely had hands full of them. We had 6 adults and 5 children in our group. The waitress was helpful in describing food for the children who were interested in trying new things. We tried the fried green beans that were a special of the day, the regular chowder bowl, fish and chips, and grilled pesto chicken sandwich. The whole food was delicious and hot when it came out. My oldest absolutely loved the Chowderschale and was very happy that he had an attempt. The first time with Clam Chowder. I would recommend eating here after a walk through the city or down the beach. Get warm and fill the bells."

"Love the bar and its atmosphere. Great place to grab a drink, but service was nonexistent. Sat at a table for about 15 minutes before the waitress even spoken to me about a drink. Did not even ask if I wanted a menu. Sat around all night while nobodyasked me if I wanted something to eat. Disappointed because I love this place and was completely ignored."

"For freshness and flavor of the food I give this place a full five stars... It is a wonderful taco spot in a fairly quiet corner of Connecticut! "I give this restaurant 3 stars for the food and 4 stars for the atmosphere. The food was merely decent, prepared by teenagers. The calamari was overcooked, coated in a thick batter, and unfortunately, there was no dipping sauce, making it quite dry. The crab cakes, on the other hand, were quite good, packed with crab and minimal filler. The onion strings were just okay. My friend had the lobster roll; it looked small nestled in a hamburger bun, but it had the right amount of lobster filling. However, the bun didn't quite hold up under the sandwich. On the brighter side, the atmosphere was fantastic. We really enjoyed watching the boats sail by while feeling the refreshing ocean breeze. I'm a bit conflicted about my overall experience!"
