"We had to request bread multiple times, and when it finally arrived, it was similar to much of the other food we encountered—visually appealing but lacking in flavor. The bread had a unique twist with cranberries, but ultimately it was just mediocre. Next, we ordered the nine-dollar chopped salad, which, in case you’re wondering, isn't included with any of the meals here. It, too, was merely acceptable. A significant annoyance was the presence of gnats buzzing around us, thanks to the open bar area. This significantly marred our dining experience; no restaurant, especially one with such high prices, should allow insects near the food! When my main course arrived, I regretted not heeding the waiter’s suggestion, as it was disappointingly dry and bland. The dessert, a Mississippi Mud Pie, was the only highlight of the evening, but at nine dollars, it should have been a standout. Ultimately, Burt Max’s offers plenty of style but lacks in substance—the food just doesn’t justify the cost. It would be wise to choose the Cheesecake Factory instead, where you can save money, enjoy shorter wait times, be around a younger crowd, and most importantly, have much better food. With so many dining options in Boca and Delray, and new restaurants opening in the same shopping center, it’s clear that all that glitters isn't gold, especially when it comes to Max’s. Don’t be fooled by the atmosphere; you might find yourself dissatisfied at the end of your meal!"

"1. "I had a disappointing experience with this place. I had at least six options to choose from, but the food was cold when I picked it up. They even replaced my food without informing me. What was supposed to be a 20-minute wait turned into an hour. It just keeps getting worse. I decided to give them one last chance when they started offering delivery, but the drivers weren't available that night. It seems like the owners really don’t care. I’d recommend sticking with Poor Peoples Pub instead; at least they’re consistent with their indifference." 2. "I tried this restaurant multiple times, thinking things would improve, but it just keeps getting worse. My food was cold at pickup, and they switched it out without letting me know. A 20-minute wait turned into an hour. On top of that, when I hoped for a better experience with their pizza delivery, there were no drivers available. It’s clear the owners don’t care. I suggest going to Poor Peoples Pub instead — at least there’s no pretense there." 3. "I wanted to like this restaurant, but my experiences have been frustrating. I had six choices, but when I picked up my food, it was cold. They even replaced my meal without telling me. What was meant to be a 20-minute wait turned into an hour. I thought I’d give them one last chance with their new pizza delivery service, but there were no drivers available that night. It seems like the owners are indifferent to customer satisfaction. I’d recommend Poor Peoples Pub instead; at least they are straightforward." 4. "This restaurant has really let me down. With at least six menu options, I was excited, but my food was cold when I picked it up, and they switched it out without any notice. A supposed 20-minute wait stretched into an hour, which is unacceptable. I thought I’d give their delivery service a try, but no drivers were available that night. The owners seem to have a complete disregard for their customers. I suggest you stick to Poor Peoples Pub; at least they’re refreshingly honest about their lack of concern." 5. "I’ve tried giving this restaurant a fair chance, but it just keeps disappointing me. I had six options, but the food was cold when I picked it up. They ended up replacing my order without telling me, and a 20-minute wait turned into an hour. I thought the new pizza delivery would be a good change, but there were no drivers that night. The owners seem uninterested in customer service. I recommend Poor Peoples Pub instead; they clearly don’t pretend to care." 6. "After several attempts to enjoy this restaurant, I’ve hit my limit. There were at least six choices, but my food was cold at pickup, and they replaced it without informing me. A 20-minute wait morphed into an hour. I decided to give their pizza delivery a shot, only to find there were no drivers that evening. It’s clear the owners don’t prioritize customer care. I’d recommend heading over to Poor Peoples Pub; they don’t hide their indifference.""

"Good stuff: The restaurant is clean and pretty, with Santa Barbara-like design. Tasty mashed potatoes. Bad stuff: Extremely long wait between salad and entree. Most of the food was underwhelming. Unprofessional service. I went here for dinner and breakfast while staying at the Best Western. I had high hopes for this place because the place had a good rating from AAA and yelp gave it even better ratings. Unfortunately, while the setting was very clean and inviting, both meals were very disappointing, in both the food and the service. For dinner, it was a little late on a weekday night and the place was almost completely empty. We were seated immediately by a man who made no less than five remarks about how poor business was that day. Not very professional for a restaurant that's trying to be a little classy. It didn't help that later in the night the waiter and a host were standing up front talking very loudly about bad comedy movies. We started with caesar salads. The first couple bites were fine, but the use of grated cheese instead of shredded is awkward given the price and setting. The croutons were stale to the point of inedibility and the sauce, after the first couple of bites, began to dominate with an unpleasurable vinegar-y flavor. Bread was served with sweet butter; I am a big fan of sweet butter, but the bread they serve is cardboard-like. It took no less than 40 minutes for our entrees to come out after the salad. About 30 minutes in, our waitress told us that the chef had cooked the wrong dish. This mistake is ridiculous to me because there were only two tables with customers that night. What if this had happened in a busier restaurant? Furthermore, that apology was all we ever got for the night; a more professional restaurant would've given at least something to us on the house. I know money isn't rolling in when the restaurant is slow, but this was just inexcusable. When the entrees did come out, my friend and I were disappointed to see that the food wasn't really worth the wait. The lamb chops tasted boiled, and the pork dish (the one that was late) was obviously rushed, with the potatoes being severely burnt and the meat ranging from very overcooked to somewhat red. The one highlight of the dinner was the mashed potatoes, which were pretty tasty. Since a mistake was made at dinner, I decided to give them another shot the next morning. Unfortuantely, breakfast was more of the same affair. This time they didn't make a mistake, but the food still took too long to come out. There was really nothing noteworthy about the food itself, aside from my bacon being quite undercooked. In conclusion: If this is a 4 star restaurant, then Millbrae must be starving. Given the quality of the food, the only reason I'd go here is for the convenience, but you're not saving any time with how long the food takes to go out. Next time I stay at Best Western, I'll walk over to KFC instead."
