"I have been curious to try Golden Corral for awhile, so I made the trip out to Manassas to check it out. I arrived at just before 4 to get the early bird/senior price, which was $9.99 as of 07/29/2024. I checked out the food and was a little confused as I did not see any plates. I then realized you have to be seated where a server will bring you plates and whatever drink you selected (I just had water). Took a few minutes for a server to arrive, but not a problem. I was give four plates so off I went. I went protein heavy; I had fried chicken, fish both baked and fried, ribs, pot roast, bourbon chicken, and meat loaf. I had a tiny bit of mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, mac and cheese, squash, fried okra, onion rings, hush puppies, collard greens, and corn bread. Lastly a little bit of chocolate soft serve ice cream and a chocolate dipped strawberry. I wanted to try other desserts but I was just too full after three plates of food. Overall, the food was okay. The stand out was the fried chicken; it was perfection. I also enjoyed the pot roast and the ribs. Everything else I tried was average or maybe a smidgen better; I did like the corn bread as well. Would I go again? Perhaps if the restaurant was closer (for me it was a 40 minute drive). $10 after all is ridiculously cheap these days, and is certainly a good value for the variety and the amount you can eat. I would like to go back and try other things, an have more of that fried chicken!"

"As I approached the register to pay, I saw a sign stating that the air conditioning wasn't working properly. They apologized for the inconvenience, but it wasn’t too uncomfortable at that time, so I paid and headed to the dining area. My son chose a table, and I asked him to order drinks when the server came by. Once I walked over to the buffet, it felt like chaos. The staff behind the counters were self-serving, which is understandable during Covid, but there were too many customers and too few employees, leading people to grab tongs and spoons themselves with no guidance from the staff. The buffet trays were a mess; food was haphazardly mixed together, posing a risk for those with food allergies. Spills covered the trays and the floor, creating a disgusting scene. Many trays were empty, leaving groups of people waiting for food to be replenished. I had to ask three different staff members when specific dishes would be served, but they ignored me, looking me in the eye and then walking away. Finally, I thought to ask in Spanish. At this point, I was fed up. I had been there for a good ten minutes and still had no food on my plate, so I stepped back to survey the other stations. They were just as empty and unkempt as the main entrée area. The carpets were filthy, and the whole place gave off a dirty impression. I decided to leave; I was disgusted and had completely lost my appetite. When I went back to retrieve my son, he still hadn’t been able to order drinks after over 10 minutes. I approached the front to request a refund. The young guy at the register didn’t even ask why I wanted it and offered no apologies. He handed me a refund receipt without any formality and told me my money would be credited back to my card by tomorrow, as if this happened all the time. My refund receipt indicated $34.61, but I confirmed that my credit card had been charged $41.53. I'm curious about the $6.92 difference, especially since we didn't even receive drinks before leaving. I can't believe how dirty and rundown this establishment has become. I left feeling frustrated and almost nauseous. I better receive a full refund."
