"Not my kind of place. The bar / tavern had screaming, loud customers on a day when there was no one around. Really a tasting menu, teen plate, teen servings, bad value for money. The waitress told me that the green peppers in my clam chowder were mild - they weren't and had to spit out with a burning mouth. Really embarrassing when I was treated. Instead, they gave me asparagus. Your only vegetable. They didn't notice that my water glass was empty and I had to request it. Backless benches to sit in the tavern / bar, but you can request an uncomfortable chair. Not a place where you, like me, eat a lot of healthy protein and vegetables. I don't like leaving a restaurant where I feel bloated with too much food, but I don't want to go hungry either. The coffee was good after the meal."

"Alas, La Kitchenette will not be around much longer (closes June 18, 2023 , so if you want some excellent bistro-style French food, go now! La Kitchenette is a charming little place with quirky decoration. Service is good and friendly, and the food is superb. On our most recent visit, we had the French Onion Soup (which we always get when we go there, it is so good! , the Boeuf Bourguignon, and the Chicken Doria. The Boeuf Bourguignon was just what you would expect from a good quality French bistro. The Chicken Doria was a pleasant surprise, too. It's a rich chicken, rice, and bacon casserole topped with melted cheese: magnifique! We're going to miss La Kitchenette, and we sincerely hope they decide to reopen in a new location some day!"

"The food is mediocre. But the service is soooooo bad that I actually felt uncomfortable. The waiter looked incredibly put out when we asked for basic things like; cleaning the table or water refills. Finally, I was told that they had “run out” of iced tea when I asked for a refill. I would never, ever return here even though the atmosphere sitting outside was quite nice. The service is just so incredibly horrible that I don’t understand how they are still in business. They have you add a tip when placing your order (of course, otherwise tips would all be reflective of service), which is another clue. Skip this place and give a different restaurant your business!"

"Excellent food and service, but gets five stars because the menu prices are very reasonable (especially for NYC). The ingredients are high-quality and the food preparation is superb. The brunch dishes like eggs benedict are quite delicious. The wait staff are very attentive and pay close attention to the dining room."
