"Ok, so we had high expectations coming in. This place is very hyped up. We managed to snag last minute reservations for 530pm on a Monday. We were very impressed with the service. Very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. It was our babymoon, and the menu itself said Happy babymoon , which was a special touch. Food wise, we 're giving Husk 3/5 stars because it really didn 't knock our socks off. In fact, we only liked 3 out of the 5 dishes we ordered. Out of those, we only really highly recommend 1. Here 's what we got, starting with the dishes we liked the best: #1: Broadbent country ham, buttermilk biscuits, husk pickles, lusty monk mustard YUM. Like a southern charcuterie board, as it was described by our server. #2: Cornmeal fried catfish, white cheddar grits, collard greens this was really good too, but not something I would feel compelled to order again. The catfish by itself was okay, but a bite with the catfish, grits, and collard greens together was wonderful! #3: Sweet potato bread pudding with toasted marshmallow too sweet for me, but my husband really liked it. #4: Lamb dumplings, okra, chermulah honey yogurt, pecan dukkah did not like these, and they weren 't particularly hot when they came out. Strange because this one came highly recommended by our server. #5: Hearth baked skillet cornbread, broadbent 's bacon crumble how could this not be good???? But it really wasn 't. It was dry and had very little flavor. We didn 't finish this, which is very unlike us."

"Our server was rude throughout the evening. At first, we thought he was just being humorous and laughed along, but as the night progressed, we found ourselves feeling increasingly upset. He carelessly cleared away our champagne and tea, insisting that we move our champagne to the center of the table because he was uncomfortable with us having it there. When my friend requested a tea refill, he remarked something to the effect of, “Wow, they really despise this alcohol.” This made my friend anxious, and when she inquired if there was any alcohol in the tea, his response was, “That was sweet, and it clearly fell through.” When he returned to replace the tea, he stared at my friend until she finally said, “I’m waiting for you to take that stray and pour it into the new glass.” This behavior made us quite uncomfortable until we asked for boxes for our leftover food. He seemed offended and said, “You’re suddenly full?” I genuinely hope his behavior was meant as playful humor that we simply didn’t understand, but his professionalism with other tables contrasted sharply with his attitude toward us, making it feel personal. As we were likely the youngest couple in the restaurant, we wondered if he noticed this and tried to highlight the age difference. In the end, our bill came to $250, including the 20% tip that was automatically added. We didn’t feel that our experience was worth this amount, and given how we were treated, we would not have tipped the full 20%. We are disappointed that the glowing reviews we had heard were not reflected in our experience."

"I have always wanted to go to Redwood as i walk past it everyday on the way to work. So with being restaurant week, I figured this was the perfect time to go. Had a reservation for 7: 15 and I got there about 7:09. I was quickly seated outside which was very nice. My server Matt was with another table, so a nice bald gentleman took my appetizer order. The calamari. Which you would think okay that's pretty standard but nope not theirs. They were hot and crunchy, fried hard which i love. Then they are mix with sauce and banana peppers. Now prior to this I had never had banana peppers with calamari or at all for that matter. BUt now that's the only way I want them. By now Matt has come over and introduced himself and was very helpful in me making a second selection. The Salmon with a shrimp succotash!!! Now I have never been one to like lima beans BUT Redwood changed that! Between the salmon and the succotash it was too good. I happily cleaned my plate. Then for dessert, I had the mango cheesecake with a chocolate crust. WHATTT?!?!?!? That made my inner fat kid very happy. Three of my favorites all together what's better than that. I tell you, eating that on Thursday evening watching people walk by and enjoying themselves while you enjoy yourself at Redwood. I have told ever and any one who will listen about how good my experience was. I will be back for sure!!!!"

"we have dined here because my whole party wanted fish and seafood, but I don't eat seafood, so they have found a place that also fits this picky eater. that was a nice sit-down restaurant with a casual urban miminimalist atmosphere. it is very loud here and we had a difficult time to hear the waitress and to each other, as the floor is concrete, there is a very high deck, and many wood and metal, so there is not much to damp the sound. my mother and my son commanded the cedar braid laughs, my man had fried garnel, and I ordered steak. I usually order a filet or a new york strip, but all they have offered was a top sirloin and it was so lean that it came to hard to eat. I prefer a well-married filet, but that was my only option. Don't go to the steak. it had no taste and I had to literally see him with my steak knife to cut it. yes, I have ordered well, but with a better cut it is still juicy and delicate. this was simply a less high quality steak, but this is a fish restaurant, so I did not expect it to be as good as a steak house steak. I had a side salad with it that was fantastic and made my whole meal. there was no brotservice, and I wish there was him. it came with a small baked carrot loaded after the waitress, but it was just a puppenpult acidic saw and a few shredded by Cheddar cheese up. no bacon bits, no slices and no butter. it was a small kartoffel. both my mother and my son noticed how small the salmon was. my man liked his meal very and he enjoyed the creamy koleslaw. I liked my meal, but it could have been better. the prices were good at around $20 per person when they add a drink. we're going back, but I'd choose the Hawaiian huh next time and get my steak at a steak place."

"Having dined here over three times a week, I've had the chance to sample many items from the menu, and here are some of my favorites: **Banana Foster**: By far the best dessert on campus, no doubt about it. The combination of vanilla ice cream with sweet caramel and brownie is perfect. This might also be my favorite because I had never tried Banana Foster before coming to WashU, and it is seriously delicious. **Parmesan Fries**: These come with many entrees, so you don’t have to order them separately. They are incredibly tasty, crispy on the outside and soft like mashed potatoes on the inside. I will definitely miss these after graduation. **Fish Dishes**: Whether it’s from the lunch buffet (pre-COVID) or dinner, you should get the fish. It’s incredibly tender, and the quality seems to be quite good. **Brussel Sprouts**: WashU makes the best Brussel sprouts in the world! It’s funny that this is their specialty, but they roast them to perfection, making them crispy and full of tangy lemon and vinaigrette flavors. **Steamed Green Beans**: Simple yet delicious. The only downside is that the portion size isn’t very generous, so you might need to order two servings to feel satisfied. **Calamari**: Though WashU isn’t near the ocean, the calamari here is fantastic. I’ve had this as my main dinner dish on several occasions. Its deliciousness likely comes from the generous sprinkle of parmesan, and the tomato dipping sauce is excellent. Now, the reason I gave it 4 stars is that some dishes can be hit or miss. The Sweet Potato Pasta used to be quite good, but now it’s just a muddled white sauce with chickpeas and mint, which is an odd combination in my opinion. The Bistro Salad isn’t great either, especially since I'm not a fan of beets. Additionally, they reduced menu changes during COVID, which was a bit of a letdown. Overall, this restaurant is a fantastic option for utilizing meal points on campus. However, if I were just a regular visitor, I might think twice before dining here, as the prices are not really justified. I would recommend heading to BD or DUC instead."

"Parking lot so no issues with parking for us. We made a reservation beforehand but it wasn 't too busy for a Friday night. We had a server and someone else who was coming to help fill up water and clear plates but there was some slight miscommunication where they brought out an extra glass of wine when we asked a question about it. We also ordered the Tea Sympathy cocktail which was very tasty! They had a great wine list. For our appetizers, we orders the Fried Green Tomatoes, Oysters Rockefeller and the Heirlooms Butterflied Shrimp. All of it was delicious. The Shrimp was so crispy and had a great flavor in it. Loved the green tomatoes but the peppadew it came with and the whipped boursin cheese were amazing. The Oyster Rockefellers were also quite good! We did order the she crab soup as well. The soup had too much sherry in it and was quite overpowering. For dinner, we ordered the Whole Yellowtail Snapper, the soft shell crab special and the Maple Leaf Farm Pressed Duck Breast. The star of the show was definitely the Snapper. Beautiful presentation and absolutely delicious. The sauce was a tad sweet but overall, my favorite. The duck was good and well cooked but the kale was a little salty. The soft shell crab was well breaded and the salad it came with was a nice balance. They did bring out a May 's Parlor Lemon Lavender Cheesecake for my birthday which was also very good. Great Lavender flavor and incorporation and the cheesecake was nice and soft as well. We had some trouble finding our server in the end and it took some time to get the check. Overall, great food and would definitely recommend coming back. Love the ambiance and the decor as well."
