"When we called to make a reservation, we specifically requested a private table, but instead, we were seated right behind the host desk next to a large party of 20. There was nothing private about our dining experience; we constantly had people walking by to use the restroom, waitstaff rushing past us, and children loitering and playing hopscotch on the floor in front of our table.
It was challenging to have a conversation due to the loud '80s music, which was surprisingly louder than you'd expect in a bistro setting, along with the noise from the large group next to us. I noticed other guests also appeared frustrated with the level of noise, as it made it impossible for anyone to enjoy a relaxing meal.
We were understanding about the service, but we ended up waiting about 45 minutes for our salads after ordering. Our entrées were served before our appetizer, which didn't arrive until after we had started eating. While the meat was cooked well, we had requested it to be medium-well, and it ended up being tough as a result. The vegetables were overcooked, especially the baked potato. The dessert was just okay. If it hadn't been for our very pleasant server, I think we would have left after waiting 30 minutes just to have our order taken.
Next time, we'll be making reservations at a more upscale dining option in Fairbanks."
