"We were looking for a Chinese buffet with fewer crowds, but I should have considered the lack of customers as a warning sign. I was hoping that China King would be comparable to City Buffet in the southeast of San Antonio, but it was not. It seems like almost anyone can run a Chinese buffet, as the dishes are often pre-cooked off-site and reheated at the restaurant. However, at China King, most of the dishes tasted the same because they were all reheated in the same sauce and served in the same dishes. I won't go into detail about what I ate, but it was either lukewarm or difficult to eat. Even the cocktail sauce reminded me of watered-down ketchup. My wife tried the hot and sour soup, which was difficult to mess up, but even that was lacking in flavor. We noticed a sign on every table warning customers not to waste food or risk being charged extra, which made us feel uncomfortable. Overall, we were not impressed with the quality of the food or the service at China King."
