"Stopped in for some takeaway today. Received what seems to be a typical experience for us.We showed up 10 minutes before pickup and the food was, unexpectedly, already bagged and ready to go.The food was fairly well cooked and met or exceeded expectations. The burgers were flavourful and juicy. The chicken was well breaded and fried to an excellent crisp-yet-juicy.That is not to say the food is perfect. The fries are a bit bland, even the spiced ones. The spicy chicken was also quite mild. Since it was takeaway and they preassemble the sandwiches, the bread was rather soggy. We experimented today with a crispy burger which was a burger battered in a falafel-like crust and fried. I probably will not order that particular dish again, but it was an interesting off-beat option. The pick up line was empty with two employees at the counter. One did not engage with us at all. The other alternated between answering phones and then being able to respond to us.There was a small discrepancy in the order (a missing sauce). We initially mentioned to the counterman that we had ordered it and that we did not expect it to be in the bag since we have never had the sauce we ordered actually in the bag. (We have adjusted our expectations to always check our Dougie's takeaway for accuracy.)The employee told us that the sauce should be in there, so we checked our order on a nearby table. The sauce was not there. We told the employee and began repacking the bag. He insisted on checking the contents again himself; he also found the sauce to be missing and did eventually get one for us. We were left to repack the bag again. The order included drinks, which we reminded the employee when he was off the phone again. He told us to go ahead and grab from a nearby merchandiser. We realised on the drive home that he had neglected to charge us, so we paid using this ingenious QR code on the receipt.Although the experience differs visit to visit, it always seems a bit chaotic. Usually our orders are missing items, so do check before driving off. When asking regarding allergen information, we have been regularly misinformed, so be very cautious if you have allergies. With that said, the food is enjoyable and fairly consistent. "I’ve been dining at Mandy’s Family quite often lately. While some chefs could improve their skills, I truly enjoy the cozy atmosphere, enhanced by the fireplace and flickering candles. Most dishes taste good, though I would appreciate smaller portions of carbs at a lower price, especially given growing concerns about obesity and diabetes. More restaurants should consider offering diabetic-friendly menus. The staff is friendly and efficient. I found the smothered chicken delicious, but the portion was too large; a smaller piece with the toppings would be preferable. The green beans were delightful. My friend enjoyed the chicken Alfredo but felt it had too much chicken and carbs. The salad was very basic, just lettuce, onion, and tomato. Since I dislike raw onion, I suggest it be finely chopped. I like that avocado is offered, but it shouldn’t come with an extra charge. Cucumber would be a nice substitute for onion. Another friend ordered the taco salad, which was tasty but had an unnecessarily large shell. Offering non-spicy options, like mild salsa, would be helpful. I found the meatloaf too spicy for my taste, and it would be better if this was noted on the menu for those sensitive to spice. The exterior was overcooked, and the ketchup would improve if caramelized during baking. The beef brisket was excellent, though the au jus was occasionally too salty. The breakfast options are good but include too many potatoes for those on low-carb diets. While the home fries are delicious, they’re easy to overeat. The sweet potatoes I had once were overcooked and lacked their usual color. I appreciate the honey mustard sauce offered, but the corned beef hash was too salty for me. Overall, my experience at Mandy’s Family was mixed."
