"This is a hotel restaurant. Something not obvious in the description provided. They add tablecloths at night and lower the lighting to make it a little more formal. I booked this because I had a specific time frame, location and request for steak and this was the only location that fit the bill. The lobby is very large and open with great views, but when we arrived there was no clear signage telling us where to find the restaurant. The restaurant boasts about having great views but several tables, like ours, were badly positioned so only one guest had the view and one guest had their back to the view. The restaurant was much noisier than I expected. The tablecloth had clearly not been ironed which bothered me. The cutlery was very badly scratched and looked old and used. The service is prompt, professional, attentive and responsive. I ordered a drink that was very badly made, which was a disappointment. We elected to share an appetizer with shrimp, orange segments and fennel. The minute the plate was put on the table the smell of the shrimp was overwhelming. First sign they were definitely not fresh. When we ate them, they were very slimy, yet another sign they were not fresh. They were very tough and overcooked. It was not a good start. We ordered steak with lobster tail. The steak was perfect. Every bite was tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned and medium rare, which is what I expected. The lobster was over-seasoned and over-cooked. The brussel sprouts were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My guest ordered a baked potato that arrived very late and cold. We were in a time crunch so we did not order dessert. They validate parking which is important. The meal was over priced $200) for only two people and definitely not worth the price. If you are staying in the hotel the restaurant is fine. If you want a good basic steak, they do a great job, but there are far better places to enjoy a good steak dinner in Burlingame."

"Hmm. So Valentines Day was interesting. Went out with friends and decided to give Salt Stone a try because there were lots of available reservations and we were booking at the last minute. Walking in, the place looked cozy: dark wood, fireplace, cool chandelier. But it all went downhill from there. The hostess asked us if we would like some water, then never brought it. We waited for almost min before asking if we could get a server. Now keep in mind...we were fully enjoying each other’s company and were feeling generous and patient because it was Valentines Day and we expected a little craziness. Any other day we probably would have walked out at that point. When we asked for a server, the man at the table next to us stood up and said “good luck. I ordered min ago and I still haven’t gotten my food.” He left. Still we persisted. Our server was a nice girl and very apologetic about our wait...however after taking our drink order it took another min before we finally saw her again and got our drinks. Ordering food was another ordeal. One friend had her heart set on the Valentines special (cowboy steak) but they were out. She decided to have the ribeye. Also out. So we asked the server what she would recommend that they had. She said the prime rib dip. Great! We all ordered it. She came back a few minutes later with the news...yep...out. We switched to chicken and a panini. After finally placing our order, our hummus appetizer came really quickly. It was good. But we were starving so not super picky at that point. Our drinks ran dry and again we waited. And waited. Thankfully our friends continued to be delightful and our kids were at home, so we were happy to sit there...even though we were growing increasingly hungry. Long story short(I’m running out of words) our food finally came two hours after we arrived. Yay! They compensated us with free desserts and the food was all decent. But SHEESH!!! We won’t be back"

"Breakfast buffet was truly a disappointment. It's 2 years since I've returned. I was so eager to experience my annual, usual morning delight, but ended up asking for management and walked out with only a banana From the get go, they are no longer with Open Table, that says a lot. Sat at my favorite booth across from the buffet, they had hand sanitizers and plastic gloves available. Walked into the buffet room and it was eerily quiet. No omelette station, no one around, staff or guests. Food was limited, dry cereals were piled on top shelves where you could not see what they were unless you grabbed each one to bring it down and read them. Hot Oatmeal looked like yesterdays dry soup. Potatoes were dry and weirdly colored so several ppl who walked in wondered what it was, sweet potato? It was the only potato, fried till it looked like it would crumble if I picked it up. Sausage links were worse, so dry and shrunken, did they forget to take this plate off when they shut down 2 years ago from Covid? Scrambled eggs were the only choice eggs and it was the usual lumped together from sitting so long, I have seen at cheap hotels long ago. They still had an hour before shutting down breakfast. I took a risk and tried eating, desperate and time crunched.... Everything was cold. I mean cold . Waited so long for a server, just wanted water and juice, got up and walked back to the front to ask for a server from the receptionist. You think it's a staff shortage problem? No, not from what i saw, there was plenty around, plus bussers , always 2 ppl in the front to greet. I threw in the towel, napkin in this case, shortly after. Walked out to the front to talk with the manager. Not as angry as disappointed. I used to eat here twice a day when I stayed! It was so good! I would return for dinner I talked to the manager nicely and challenged her to walk over to the buffet area and eat something, So much was inedible. She was of course welcoming of my comments. Too bad they don't have any competition in this area, skipping breakfast for a couple days, then will walk to look at the buffet food before sitting down. You should too."

"Poor Service. Poor communication between front staff and kitchen. We were informed that they would be offering breakfast buffet until 12. Our reservations were at 10:45 am. Waitress took our drink order at 11 am. We ordered at 11:15 am. She informed us 5 minutes after ordering the buffet that the cooks will be removing items and closing buffet immediately. We asked to speak to manager. Manager stopped at table and told us the cook would be putting more food on buffet. Then the cooks proceeded to immediately remove trays from buffet. No new food ever came back out of the kitchen. We paid $19.99 for a breakfast buffet that we only had 5 minutes to access as staff was removing food as we were trying to fill our plates. The waitress apologized several times for their lack of organization and communication as a restaurant. She kept explaining that she didn't know what was going on. Four of our party quickly ate their 5 minute buffet of cereal boxes and eggs. I waited additional 30 minutes for egg white frittata while my friend waited an additional 10 minutes after me for her eggs benedict. The restaurant was not busy at all compared to last year when we visited and especially considering the crowd from the event next door. There was truly no excuse for the poor service or lack of proper communication from the kitchen to the wait staff and even the manager. I would never return to this restaurant or recommend anyone else to visit."

"Unfortunately my experience here was atrocious. It was so disappointing that after my meal, I sought out the manager. I had a dinner reservation for Upon arrival we were offered a rooftop table, naturally giving my friends and me excitement! When we sat down we ordered drinks. My friend ordered a Mojito and we were extremely surprised when the waitress brought her out a can of a ‘Bacardi mojito’, not a fresh drink. There was confusion on our end and when we spoke to the waitress, we asked why the drink was in the can? She could have explained that drinks were different on the rooftop because of the constant running up and down stairs the staff would have to do to provide fresh drinks, which are provided on the ground floor. Instead we were greeted by an unhappy, combative employee with her nasty response ‘well that’s just how it is on the roof’. I could see the hesitation when we asked her to switch out the can drink for a different beverage. The night went downhill from there. The service was atrocious. We were not provided with silverware, plates, and I found myself getting up and asking other staff members for the basic things we were missing from our table. Our table ordered food and we found out, when our waitress brought half our meals out, that the chicken cutlets were out of stock so they couldn’t complete half our order. Half our table was able to eat their meals when the other half watched. Plates were not given to us with our main meals, after explaining we were sharing the salad/pizza so I once again had to ask for more utensils and plates. The waitress was hostile with us. She then went ahead and tipped herself on a person table. This was not a party of but a party of When asked about it, she once again said “well that’s just how we do it here.” The manager was very surprised when I asked him about their tipping policy. He said parties of automatic gratuity and was very surprised when I told him it was Won’t be back"
