"On to the positives: the ambiance was pleasant and the music was enjoyable. The snapper was on the smaller side, but the curry was rich and flavorful. The curry shark had a unique taste, and you could tell it was cooked just right with a slightly charred finish, keeping the pieces tender. Customer service was excellent; our server was very attentive despite clearly having multiple responsibilities. If you enjoy drinks, you'll be pleased with the full bar that offers a wide selection. Overall, a solid dining experience!"

"New review: It seems like they might have a new chef, but my meal was disappointing. My meat was slightly undercooked, and everything had a watery consistency—watery rice and vegetables that weren’t fully cooked. I don't think they were prepared properly throughout. The prices have also gone up; I paid $17.50 for a small curry goat and $20.50 for a large oxtail (July 2021). My mother loved the oxtail; it was a generous portion and offered a lot of food for a reasonable price. I enjoyed the curry goat, and the BBQ wings I had this time were delicious. I’d rate it 4/5 because the oxtail and wings were tasty, but the sweet potato cake and mac and cheese were disappointing."

"We ordered appetizers, which arrived surprisingly quickly. The Tom Yum soup and chicken wings were both delicious, and my wife enjoyed them even more than the dishes we typically have at our usual Thai spots. While our main courses took a little longer than expected to arrive, it was understandable given how full the restaurant was. For our entrees, we chose Lard Nah, Pad See Ew, and Pho. All were well-prepared and flavorful. The pho was particularly impressive, not only for its taste but also for the generous portion size, especially for just $10. We will definitely be adding this restaurant to our list of places to visit again during my future trips to see my aunt."

"Love this place! Out of this world food and prices. Bartender/waitstaff are funny and helpful. The food has to be tasted to be believed… it's THAT good. Music is off the hook if you're into soca, reggae etc.on a Saturday night. Definitely a cool bar you can chill, listen to some good tunes and chillax."

"I visited this wonderful place for the first time yesterday. God-willing it won’t be my last! After the first taste of my oxtails entree, and then sampling his barbecue chicken, I told my frat brother who accompanied me: “I’m gonna be spending some money here today!” Without being able to finish the huge portion of my dish, I ordered and left with escovitch fish, curry shrimp, and my own barbecue chicken. I am gloriously eating my way through these meals, and enjoying equally as delicious sides of rice and peas, potatoe salad, mac and cheese (real mac and cheese . cabbage, and plantain. THIS is tops for me when it comes to the authentic Jamaican food I’m accustomed to enjoying in New York when the original spices from the mother country invade your palate and bring satisfaction. Soooooo, sooooo good and reasonably priced with great portions."

"I prefer this location of The Island Spot because there was live reggae music on Friday night. I had the jerk chicken nachos which were delicious. The drinks there are strong also. . . I suggest the Painkiller. The friends that I was with enjoyed the curry chicken and cabbage but said the rice peas were dry. The waiter was very responsive and took it back and gave my friend another side of cabbage. Overall, it was a good dinner date to the Island Spot. I enjoyed the atmosphere and definitely will return."

"The MOST disappointing and disrespectful Caribbean food I 've EVER had on the face of the EARTH. You know the vybes ...they 're NOT Tropical.I ordered a J Chicken Salad expecting it to be exotic and full of flavor. My order was placed by phone with some ANNOYING third-party outsourced company located overseas that asked a million questions for over 5 minutes on how I wanted my order and they STILL didn 't get it right...[they left out the olives!]The wait time was 20 minutes. I gave ample time for the order to be fulfilled before I left to go pick it up and it I took me 18 minutes to drive. Once I arrived to the restaurant for pick-up, the food still wasn 't even ready...IT WAS SIMPLY A SALAD so I was confused!Too bad I was schemed out of over $11 for cut up chicken strips over lettuce that I could 've went to the grocery and made MYSELF for MUCH less of a price.What a waste of money, time and gas. NEVER AGAIN."
