"Laurie, Krystal (C K)? And Linda. These ladies made our date night really nice. This is the kinda place you want to hear about, the owners who care and support their community. I would have loved to have loved the food. Disclaimer: GI issues here so If we eat out and I don't get sick after, I know it's a safe, good place for me. If I get sick a bit after, could of been a food choice I made. If I get sick right after, like within 5 10 minutes? There's something amiss. I did indeed get an upset stomach on the way home. As to the food? Only the scallops were worth eating in my opinion. Those seemed fresh and cooked well. It felt like everything else was left under warming lamps too long or simply overcooked. The shrimp, flounder tough and chewy. Frozen and thawed? I dunno. The deviled crab? Tasted like stove top stuffing and zero crab. They were polite enough to remove it from the bill. Oysters are a bit new for us but they seemed so small. Tasted okay. Just small. Like a penny. Hush puppies are hush puppies, as long as you don't burn them right? They did bring 3 baskets of those on the house. I'm sorry to hear they are closing at the end of December. Perhaps why the food is the way it is at this point? I could have seen this place in it's hay day. It exudes warmth and love as crazy as that sounds. We liked it there. We liked the people. We wish everyone well on their next endeavors. "Room was pretty good, I could tell it had been updated, Location was great. WiFi was great every night. The fish house was great for cutting fish, I wish there was a fan of some sort, so that the bugs are not as bad, but it was nice to have never the less. The Service sucked to say the least. When at the restaurant the waiter was crabby and couldn’t wait to walk away, even when we were still ordering and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The cashier person in the store/front desk would not make eye contact and ignore everyone even when being spoken to, they would just walk away. I was asking for help finding something and had to figure it out on my own. The house keeping was rude. We put out the “make our room” twice, the first day our card disappeared. After grabbing another one, we put it out again and it was on the floor. Now I am thinking, oh the wind must be bad. I went over to the house keeping because my husband was on toilet and didn’t have any toilet paper. The girl walked over and grabbed it, and I said “Thank you, i appreciate yall” her response? “Well I appreciate a dollar”. The next day we put out the card again to “make up my room” the card was on the floor and the towels were hung on the door. After spending a week at the lake, it was quite gross getting to the end of the week without any sheets being changed and having yuckiness in your bed. I would have changed them myself if that was part of the house keeping. I didn’t realize that house keeping was only if tips were present. I normally tip at the end of my stay and would be present based on if and how much I was helped. We stay every year at this establishment, and hope for a better experience with house keeping in the future. The owner is incredibly nice and helped as much as he could at the beginning of the stay and readily accessible if you went looking for him."
