"However, three members of our party canceled last minute, and one was running very late, only making it for dessert. When we informed the manager at the host stand about the situation, she responded with extreme rudeness. She insisted that we had to wait for the last member, despite my explanation that she would arrive after everyone had finished their meals. The manager sighed and spoke to us in a patronizing manner, reiterating that the last person wouldn’t be able to order food at the Teppan table, which we understood. Yet she continued to repeat herself as if we were incapable of comprehending her.
In a rather dismissive tone, she told us we had to wait 10 minutes for a new table. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting 40 minutes past our reservation before finally being seated. Upon entering the dining area, we noticed that we were one of only three parties being accommodated that night, and the table we were given could easily accommodate our original group of 11. I also observed that another table in the restaurant was asked to move multiple times.
On a positive note, the service we received was fantastic, and our cook, Caleb, was both entertaining and skilled. However, I am deeply disappointed in the manager for what seemed like discrimination toward us because we were a young group of 21-year-olds. As people who have worked in restaurants for many years, we found her behavior unacceptable. Ultimately, I regret to say that I will not return to Sakura in Flagstaff, and I can confidently say that neither will anyone else from my group. Thank you for listening."
