"Gap Year is serving some of the most exciting food in SF since Altelier Crenn opened. My wife and I dined with Chef Crenn two weeks after she opened (she bussed our table! and left knowing she’d eventually have two or three stars. It’s been since then that we’ve been at a new restaurant and left with the same reaction... until our Saturday night dinner at Nico. Chef and team are absolutely killing it on all counts not only with the food but the wine and service as well — and the care, love and technical precision the dishes are made with is truly mind blowing. The references to the original source recipes are the coolest food nerd thing I’ve ever seen and the fact that everything is washed down with a tsunami of champagne is worth the visit in and of itself. I texted a good friend in the middle of dinner and told him to “get the hell down here,” and while he couldn’t make it that night, I hope he does. If not, he’ll miss out on one of the most exciting and special meals around right now."
