"Okay. So this place is not fancy or opulent or even nice. But it is fun and funky and has an amazing location. Kind of like all of New Orleans, it’s a little gritty but rich in history and has a fun vibe.First the good. The Magnolia Mansion is one of those massive antebellum homes in the heart of the Garden District, surrounded by other beautiful homes, giant live oak trees and a buzzing activity. There is a great front porch and courtyard area that we used multiple times during our stay. But what makes this place really great is the location. In between St Charles Ave and Magazine Street and a block from the #12 Street car (that runs all day long between the Garden District and the French Quarter) the Magnolia Mansion served as a great home base that we could conveniently stop off at during our exploring to refuel. Now for some not so good features. The rooms are a little shabby. If you’re quite particular about the hotels you stay in, the MM may not be for you. This place is not quite a hotel, not quite a B&B and not quite an Air BnB. It’s not sure what it wants to be. But it was safe, clean(ish) and just fine.All-in-all we had a great weekend in NOLA and the Magnolia Mansion fit our needs."
