"As mentioned, Nuddlehaus specializes in Asian Fusion, with a focus on Cambodian cuisine, but pho is also available on the menu. Thai boat noodles used to be an option, but they were not available during my visit. I saw this as a great opportunity to indulge in Cambodian food without having to venture deep into Long Beach, and the Phnom Penh noodles (dry) caught my culinary interest.
The dry version of the Phnom Penh noodles was quite delicious and satisfying. It featured traditional Khmer noodles topped with ground pork, fish balls, fish cake, liver, green onions, and cilantro. The subtle hint of sweetness added depth to the flavors, and the optional bean sprouts and lime enhanced the dish even further. However, I found the wet portion somewhat disappointing, mainly due to the broth, which was very light and borderline bland. I tasted it before adding anything and found it watery. Having had Phnom Penh noodles before, I expected a bold and hearty dipping soup. While the chunks of bone added richness with their collagen and fat, I had to douse the soup with sambal chili, vinegar, and pepper flakes to achieve the flavor I desired.
After dipping the dry noodles in the wet broth for a while, I decided it was more efficient to combine the two, which turned out just fine.
Then came the Pho Special, which included meatballs, tendon, tripe, and beef. Nuddlehaus' pho special hit all the right notes for a piping hot bowl of pho. I was a bit disappointed by the absence of rare steak, but the meatballs, tendon, tripe, and thin slices of beef made for a comforting dinner later. For vegetarians, Nuddlehaus offers a veggie broth option for any soup, served with a choice of baby bok choy or Napa cabbage.
The service was good; upon arrival, a friendly female employee guided me to order and pay upfront, after which my food would be brought to the table when ready. The restaurant has a decent amount of seating with attractive wooden tables, chairs, and benches, creating a quaint atmosphere that’s not suited for large groups. Parking can be tricky in the shared private lot with Cassidy's, a UPS store, and 7-Eleven, but additional parking is available at the nearby Arco station. There’s also street parking, though not on Del Amo Blvd.
Overall, Nuddlehaus is a respectable new addition to the neighborhood. While the soup with the Phnom Penh noodles didn’t quite meet my expectations, I was able to enhance it with the condiments provided, leading to a pleasant noodle experience. I'm excited to have a local source for Cambodian cuisine, and I look forward to trying the student noodle dish on my next visit. Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM"
