"As someone who has worked in the food service industry, I always tip well, even for average service. I make an effort to keep the table clean and help tidy up if my kids make a mess. I try to be polite and easygoing with complicated orders, understanding that the job can be tough. Tonight, I used the “order online” option from their Google listing, which I had done successfully in the past. I placed my order, received notifications, and an estimated pick-up time. I arrived at the restaurant ready to grab my food quickly since I had my mother-in-law, baby, and 5-year-old in the car. As I walked in, I noticed the “wait to be seated” sign but stood there while the one server repeatedly walked by without acknowledging my presence. While I understand being busy, it’s important to at least recognize customers waiting. After what felt like an uncomfortable wait, she finally asked what I needed. I mentioned my online order, and she took my name, mumbling something about going into the bar to find another server. I followed her to the bar, where I then waited another 15 minutes without any further communication. At that point, it became clear they had forgotten about me while attending to everyone else. Seeing a $40 charge from Playa Cancun on my bank account made the situation worse. I went up to the two servers and explained that I had kids waiting in the car and had been waiting for quite a while. Understandably frustrated, I expected some understanding or assistance. Instead, they just shrugged and asked how I placed the order, despite the charge showing up on my account. I ended up saying I would dispute the charge and walked away. I could hear them make snarky remarks like, "Ok! Cool! Bye!" Their lack of professionalism and customer care was disappointing. If they had approached the situation more courteously and expressively acknowledged my concerns, I wouldn’t even be writing this. It’s part of the job to show some level of care, even if it’s just to feign it. It’s disheartening to see employees who clearly dislike their jobs so much."
