"I really want ramen. This simple request by my fiance unfortunately led us to a disaster of a meal. After attempting to try Chuko Ramen and being told the wait was an hour and a half, we needed a different plan. The host at Chuko suggested Bar Chuko down the street if we didn 't want to wait. It makes you wonder why their sister restaurant doesn 't have any wait, yet it 's a 90 minute wait for a bowl of noodles. Well I have the answer! The food at Bar Chuko is simply not very good. We started with wings because how could someone mess up wings? Well, these wings were so fatty that our finished plate look as if we barely even tried eating them. We tried! I got the tuna tartare rice bowl for $19. In my head I figured a rice bowl for $19 (their most expensive on the menu) would be delicious. Well I was wrong. It came out and basically looked like a deconstructed spicy tuna roll in a bowl. The rice was plain and room temperature, the tuna was just a mushy pile of overly-mayonnaised spicy tuna salad, and the couple pieces of seaweed left a lot to be desired. I was not pleased. My fiance ordered...wait for it...Ramen! They do have a ramen option on the menu, and you would think, being owned by the same folks, that this would be the same recipe, and a great way to not have to wait in line for it. Well, I sure hope it 's not the same. If it is, those people are insane for waiting 90 minutes to eat it. We have made better ramen at home using the $0.50 packs from the corner store. It didn 't help that the two guys at our communal table kept taking turns going to the men 's room to get high. I can 't blame the restaurant for their actions, but you should be ready to sit at a table with strangers, and you never know who you 'll get to deal with. So, if you are looking for an alternative to waiting for ramen, I would not recommend Bar Chuko. There are so many places on Vanderbilt without a wait, I 'm sure you 'll find something you love."
