"I've been coming to this restaurant on and off for about 15 years, but today will be my last visit. When I walked in, I was greeted by Ovy, who asked if we were dining in. We said yes, and he simply took the menus and walked away. We were left standing at the door, confused, as he didn't indicate whether we should follow him or not. Eventually, we sat down where he had placed the menus, but it just felt a bit odd and unwelcoming.
Our server was Tania. Everything was fine until she brought our drinks without ice. We ordered Horchatas, but they arrived warm, tasting like they had been left out of the fridge. We returned the horchatas and asked for water, but she brought us water that smelled like bleach and still no ice. We decided not to complain and simply avoided drinking anything.
I also noticed Tania touching her long curly hair multiple times, walking to the cash register, and texting on her phone behind the counter, all without washing her hands before serving our food. This struck me as very unsanitary.
To top off the evening, we requested a split check since there were four of us, but only three had meals. We were informed they couldn't split the check because their system had just changed. When our check was printed, we saw that we were charged a gratuity for a large party, which typically means five or more people. I've never had an issue with tipping, but it should be based on service and cleanliness. The minimum for me is usually 15%, but it felt odd to see a 20% gratuity labeled for a large party when we were just four.
When I asked about the reason for this charge, Ovy said, “Anytime it’s more than $50, we charge.” This is completely false; as regular customers, we've never experienced this before. It felt like they sensed my dissatisfaction and decided to penalize us.
Overall, the service was terrible, and I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone after today."
