"Our trip to Country host can be summed up fairly easily; The food was good, but the service was not. My kids and I were headed to the Grand Canyon from Flagstaff and wanted breakfast. our original idea was to hit the Starbucks drive-thru for a quick and easy breakfast. Apparently every other resident of Arizona had the same idea so we searched for a breakfast place on the fly. Country Host looked the most like a diner so I typed in teh address to my GPS and off we went. Country Host is most certainly a diner, but a diner attached to what appeared to be a bar. Being that we were in AZ and not LA (The real LA not L.A. , the bar was closed much to my kids disappointment. As we entered the restaurant I was a little confused. There was what looked like an area for a host, but no one around. After about a minute of staring around like a nutjob our server/host got up from the counter further in the restaurant and sat us. We may have looked a bit like troublemakers as we were seated at the far end of teh restaurant away from other customers. I'm not sure if it was where we were seated, or if we just weren't lucky, but our service was poor throughout the meal. While friendly, our server frequently abandoned us and left us needing something. For food we stuck with the breakfast essentials. My kids devoured their eggs and pancakes so those scored very highly. My western omelet was also pretty good particularly when I added Tabasco. That's right ladies and gents: Tabasco. I guess I forget how widespread the little hot sauce from Avery Island really is, but nonetheless I was impressed. Service issues aside, I'd recommend Country Host."
