"We have been loyal patrons for 15 years, but I am sorry that it ain 't what it used to be. It is no longer Jamie 's the actual Jamie is gone and I am not sure if one of his kids runs it now or if it is entirely new owners. The old model was good food at great prices in huge portions, in a townie atmosphere. The decor of the place was indeed dated, and I used always thing gosh I hope they never change this! There were few remaining family pubs remaining that escaped misguided gentrification. Jamie 's was one of the last. They put up flatscreens a few years back and you have local sports (Sox, Pats, et al. playing most of the time. The old charm was still there. Yet very recently, it has going through a major remodel. Now it looks like any other sports pub. It 's not bad. More flatscreens. But it is not quaint like it used to be. But the worst is that there seems to be chaos among the staff both the kitchen and the waitresses. Some are clearly new, a few are old (both in tenure and age but no one seems to know what is going on there these days. The food was always good, not great but simple. A little bit of Greek influence (Jaime was/is Greek and largely New England fare. Good fish, pizza, Prime Rib on the weekends. But the quality has definitely gone downhill in the last year, and more so recently. The new/current barstaff is very inexperienced, and the locals who used be there seemingly every night appear to have disappeared, and for sure the whole bar area (separated from the main dining room by a half flight of stairs is very different. The remodel was no doubt expensive, and strikes me as a step backwards. But worst is that is going to have to effect food prices, and then it will start sliding downhill. Perhaps the new owners or managers felt that someone new walking in the door of the old place would unimpressed, but how much of their clientele was old vs new. Among the locals, what I hear now is we 're going there every again. I will add that going there last night, which was a cool summer night outside, was absolutely freezing inside. There was nowhere you could sit that you weren 't being blasted the AC, and we moved tables, as did several other patrons around us. But it was too damn cold. Then I notices the thermostat was set to 64 degrees. What the hell?? Not only is that jacking up their utility bill, but it is totally uncomfortable. The vast majority of patrons at Jamie 's are elderly, or families with young children. That was true last night, as it is any day of the week. How many of them want to see in a blast of 64 degree blowing AC? The prices on the menus seem to be creeping up, and there is no way the old model of good food, great prices, huge portions can be maintained, so presumably that is no longer the model. It was the staple for families in Cohasset and Scituate, as there are not many other family dining places around here. I would much rather go to Jamies than an Applebee 's type place, but this model there is clearly changing. And doubt anyone local would argue it is change for the better."
