"Spent a romantic getaway weekend in New Paltz with my boyfriend. This was our night one dinner so our energy and hopes were high! After reading the great reviews us two foodies were excited. And I hate to say we were well…underwhelmed. The drinks were fine but I’m here for the food. We got the salumi platter to start which had such small portions and our server never cared to share what was even on our plate (nor did the menu). So we were just there eating mystery meats and pâtés. It was … fine. For entrees, my partner got the ribeye in what was supposed to be a mushroom au jus. Well, we were again surprised when the steak came out with literally three measly mushrooms. The temperature was cooked just right but it was still disappointing. I got the pappardelle bolognese. The noodles, while cooked well, were cut so wide it was challenging to eat. Also, the fire time on our dishes was clearly off because while his steak came out popping hot. My pasta had come to room temp and the sauce was slightly stiff. Not rich and creamy. Flavors were good but again kinda underwhelming. The redeeming part of the meal was dessert. The salted caramel affogato and the dark chocolate sorbet were both divine. We’d give it 3.5 stars. Perhaps we’re spoiled in North NJ with incredible Italian, but I can think of pizzerias near me that served better."
