"My first experience at this restaurant will certainly be my last. Giving it a 1-star review is too generous. Upon being seated, we were served plates of pickles, cabbage slaw, and hush puppies, referred to as "Fixin's," which were unlimited similar to Olive Garden's breadsticks or Korean banchan. Although I didn't care for these, I found the concept interesting. The type of food served, such as catfish, was not to my liking, and my child felt the same. We decided to order the $26 Bayou Platter, but the server informed us that we would be charged an additional $9.95 each for not eating the Fixin's. Frustrated, I opted to only order dessert, which I enjoy. However, I was still charged $20 for not eating the Fixin's. When I questioned this policy, the manager explained that the charge was for sitting at the table with the unlimited Fixin's. Despite my suggestions to override the system or change the party size to avoid the charge, the manager refused. It became clear that this was not about the Fixin's but rather a misleading advertising and overpricing issue. This was not a reflection of the server's service, who was not to blame. The policy was reminiscent of other establishments like Olive Garden and Cracker Barrel, where you can order separate items without being charged for the unlimited offerings. In the end, I ordered the $12 country fried steak, and my child got a kid's meal to avoid the unreasonable charge. I will be sure to warn others to avoid Uncle Bud's restaurant."
