"My husband and I were at the Westin Jekyll Island for my nephew 's wedding, which was held at the resort. I was really looking forward to this, I 've always enjoyed Westin and used points from my time as a road warrior. This place though, not like any Westin I 've been to previously. I might have frustrated the guest services team because I encountered so many issues. I specially interacted with manager Bradley and Jessica. 1. The room wasn 't really clean when we checked in on Thursday. It was dusty. You could see the dust on the wood furniture when the sun was shining; I didn 't complain about this, but I did wipe down the wood with a towel. 2. We ordered room service on check in evening. I was hoping that, after a long day of travel in the awful heat, we could enjoy a nice, relaxing evening with good room service/good food. The room service menu was very limited, but ok. We ordered a wedge salad/blue cheese/bacon/tomato, crab cakes, and a chicken breast with carrots and couscous, through the guest services line. AFter 45 minutes, there was still no food, so I called guest services again, got transferred then put on hold, then told that oh it 's on it 's way up to you. I was pretty darned shocked when a young man came in the room with a brown bag, which contained our meal. (yeah, a brown bag, like I had just done carryout. In the bag were PLASTIC utensils, and 3 carry-out type boxes with the food in them. See pics. The food was marginal and looked like it was thrown in the boxes. I like a lovely couscous, but it this I think was some other kind of grain, certainly not a pearl couscous. When I called guest services about this , I was told there was nothing they could do, that the food and beverage department was separate from the actual hotel operation, but he was aware that that 's how things were done. I couldn 't belive this was what I got at a Westin! In my room! 3. On Friday, we spent the day at the GREAT fitness center and then by the pool. We got to our room at 3pm, planning to leave at 530pm, to go to the rehearsal dinner on St Simon 's Island. And our room was still not cleaned! Trash cans were overflowing. I called Guest services yet again, telling them the room was still not cleaned at 530pm and requesting it be cleaned by the time we returned about 10pm. It was. I distinctly started getting the impression that no one knew there were guests in our room! 4. On Saturday, the day of the wedding, the room again hadn 't been cleaned by 3pm, but we had to get ready because we had to be at the wedding location onsite at 430pm. Finally, housekeeping came at 3pm, but I asked if she could come back in a little bit so we could take our shower and get ready (all in Translator app but she said no, it was her time to leave. So I just asked for fresh towels and that was it. The pool is really quite nice. Lots of chaises and towels and umbrellas. There 's a pool bar and restaurant just outside the gated pool area. I noticed that guests who ordered from the restaurant were served there food, poolside, in a PLASTIC box, similar in shape to the cardboard boxes we received our meal in, in our room, and the food looked so much better. So, I must wonder....has anyone working at this Westin every actually BEEN to a Westin? This is not the standard I 've come to expect and enjoy. It was because of the fabulous Westin Heavenly Bed that I experienced in my road warrior travelers that I bought a Westin Heavenly Bed! At the very least, someone needs to evaluate that food and beverage way of doing in-room dining. I will say that the wedding itself was very lovely....very good food, decent bar service. It was raining, so the team had to adjust plans throughout the afternoon, but it was very nicely done, not well communicated to the guests, though. For example, the calendar said open bar immediately following the ceremony on the Observation Deck. We got there, and there was no there, there. It was moved to the terrace below due to weather, but guests weren 't"
