"We watched the superbowl at this bar, largely because they took reservations. We expected it to be busy so we arrived at 3 pm planning to order drinks and food before the game. It was 4:35 before we had received the martini, by which point we had ordered and finished fish tacos. it seemed like they were determined to keep seating everyone who walked in, using their back room as extra seating. The problem was they could’ve serve the people seated. One table left after trying to order for 40 minutes and another waited that long just for two beers. We saw our server every 30 minutes or so when we flagged her down because she obviously had more tables than she could handle. We managed to get 3 drinks total and probably would’ve ordered 6 or 7- we just didn’t get the chance to. Where was a manager making sure that everyone only had as many people as they could handle? What is the point of tons of tables not getting to order drinks or food? As for food it was wildly disappointing. The bourdain burger barely had cheese on a quarter of a burger and the bacon was a loosely shredded bacon which was also scarce. They also served us a Ceasar salad I ordered without croutons dude to an allergy with a crouton. Luckily my partner saw the crouton under some lettuce and we looked at the salad with a flashlight. They had clearly forgotten the no croutons request and then someone picked the ALLERGEN OFF leaving the salad covered in barely visible breadcrumbs. I would have been very sick if he hadn’t seen the one missed crouton. Overall this place is an expensive mess of low quality food and crappy service with prices of a nice place."

"We live near Vita and like to patronize neighborhood restaurants. It was curious to us why we never heard anything about Vita or saw any activity there during dinner hours. We arrived at 7:30pm and were seated conveniently near the kitchen okay we 're not club kids and probably couldn 't cut the rope line anymore, but come on! . There was no one else in the restaurant and we had reservations. We learned after the fact that Vita was developed as a late night restaurant to serve patrons of Mynt, the club across the street. What a shame Vita doesn 't choose to participate in the Miami Spice program that allows visits to upscale area restaurants during the months of August and September at a fixed price $30.06 addtl for wine or liquor . We charged our meal on the Primecard the Herald Extra Card locally which saved 25% on the cost of the meal. Still a simple meal with salads, entrees and a reasonably priced $42 bottle wine for four came to $100 each. Ouch! The atmosphere is lovely and the people who arrived as we were leaving were beautiful. The garden area is exquisite and we are likely to take guests here for drinks during the cooler months. But for dinner, we are more likely to probably go a couple of blocks up Collins to 23rd St. to Talula better food, better service, equally nice ambiance and they participate in Miami Spice although their regular menu is quite reasonably priced for the quality . Obviously Vita is a niche restaurant and they aren 't out to win over the forty to sixty year old crowd and that 's cool. Pity though with the nearby Abbey dining room closed that Vita doesn 't choose to fill its restaurant during the non club hours with locals but that 's South Beach for you. If you are into the club scene and want to experience this part of SOBE culture, arrive later and enjoy the eye candy."
