"Right away, it was clear that our server was either new or lacked experience. That’s understandable; after all, we’ve all been there. There were several mistakes with our orders, and she had to repeat them multiple times. Thankfully, she was friendly, which made the situation more bearable. When our food arrived, half of it was incorrect. We had ordered two sets of five wings, but they brought ten. Five lemon pepper wings came out as naked, and while we ordered ten hot wings, we received only five. After correcting the lemon pepper order, they brought us ten instead of five, so we simply took five lemon pepper wings and swapped them for the hot ones ourselves. No complaints about that. We ordered four alcoholic drinks, but one of them came in a much smaller cup than the others. The server informed us we would get a refill for that drink since the cup was small. However, none of the drinks were prepared the same way, but we didn’t mind. We enjoyed them nonetheless. Throughout the meal, no one came to offer us refills for our sodas or tea, leaving our cups empty for most of the time. Things took a turn for the worse after we all received our food. The server approached with an additional plate of wings, but we explained that we had everything we ordered. She seemed hesitant and just stood there, holding the plate, as if she might get in trouble for returning it. I reassured her that we were fine and didn’t need it. After a brief pause, she finally said we could keep them since she couldn’t take them back. Alright, we accepted them. At the end of our meal, the bill came to $300, even though the restaurant had been empty while we were there. To our surprise, we were charged for the incorrect wings, which totalled only $9. When I raised the issue, it sparked a lengthy debate that lasted 15 to 20 minutes. Eventually, the owner or manager came over, asserting that since we had eaten the wings, we would still be charged. Well, we did eat them, but only because the server had stood there for so long before offering them to us. On top of that, we never received a refill for the half-full alcoholic drink. Meanwhile, two buildings down, the other restaurant was bustling with a packed parking lot and a one-hour wait—while this place appeared almost closed. It really makes you wonder why..."

"My husband and I chose this restaurant for our 32 wedding anniversary because of the awesome reviews. We called ahead and asked for the best table in the house and told them we were celebrating our 32nd anniversary. When we arrived, we were treated very poorly and given the worst table in the restaurant – right by the door. My husband and I both ordered their seafood platter – which was one of their more expensive menu items. The meal came with a relish tray, a salad, an assortment of buns and banana bread, and two sides. The relish tray took 3/4 of an hour to arrive and a half hour later our salad and bun assortment arrived. The relish tray was a nice touch, and the bread was very nice. We asked for some extra buns because by this time we were starving and were treated like we were a huge inconvenience, and the basket was just thrown on the table. Our main course finally arrived – and the assortment of seafood was over done to the point of almost being inedible. The shrimp was so over done it was difficult to cut, the scallops were like rubber, the fish was so dry it was difficult to swallow, and the crab cake was sitting in a puddle of grease. It took the waiter half a hour before he checked to see how we were doing. I told him the seafood was overcooked and he immediately brought over a manager who rudely asked “what did we expect them to do? Get us a new plate of food?” By this time I was full and didn’t want any more food. There was no apology, no offer of a complimentary desert, or a specialty drink, and the meal was not discounted. As one of the sides my husband had asked for a baked potato and the restaurant charged him an extra $2.50 for the sour cream – what an insult. Between the two of us, we spent over $100.00 excluding drinks. This was the worst meal we have ever been served, the price was steep, and the service was rude and snooty. What was really offensive was the service the regulars were getting and the warmth being exuded. My advice – if you are a tourist – save your money and go somewhere that will appreciate your business and know how to treat their patrons. Bob Hellman’s acts like an old boys club – and does not treat tourists with any degree of civility."
