"Well, we haven 't been to Carnaval since COVID started so we didn 't see the remodel. If you decide to come here, make sure to be specific about wanting a table or a booth when making a reservation, you won 't be asked for the option! Otherwise your party will be stuck at a table you may not like and they won 't accommodate you if ask for something different! The wait staff is second to none and the food was ok but the atmosphere is nothing like it used to be. It used to be very relaxing and intimate, low lighting, soft music, a really nice and fancy place for a romantic dinner. People dressed up either in a shirt and tie or nice church clothes. Today totally disappointed us in regards to the atmosphere. People coming in looked like they just come from a hayride or a travelling carnival! It was like going to Texas Roadhouse or some other chain restaurant where no one cares what they look like! It was noisy, no music they changed the booths from round booths to long, square booths so the only ones who can get the food from the gouchos are the ones at the end. Sitting at the round booths made it so everyone could get their own food, and that was the fun of it! With the downgraded atmosphere, the prices are insanely high, over $40 per person. With a party of five, two alcoholic drinks, an iced tea, two lemonades and four desserts, it totaled over $300! Even though the service was outstanding and the food was ok, we 're sorry to say that we won 't return here again for a nice and quiet, intimate dinner. We just feel like we didn 't get our money 's worth like we used to..."

"This review is for the Club Car Pub attached to the Railway Restaurant. This is the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Ever. This place is so disorganized, it 's not even comical. The service and food are both bad. We would not return based on the food alone much less the run around and lies from the staff. We had 4 different servers over the course of our 2 hours there. My husband and I seated ourselves and after 5 minutes were asked for a drink order when there were clearly no menus on the table. I ordered a cheap beer since I had no idea what else they had. We ordered a beer each and after they were brought out, we had to wait 15 minutes to order food while the tables around us got friendly conversations with their server, appetizers, and rounds of beers. After we placed our food order we were completely forgotten about. It took one hour and four different servers to get us a mediocre flounder sandwich and pork chops with a baked potato. They have to hand cut the pork chops. Not true. They were only about a quarter inch thick. That 's machine done. If that was actually the case, cutting would only take 5 extra minutes. A huge party in the buffet has backed up the kitchen. Not true. Three other tables sat down, ordered, and were served after we placed our order. No one was willing to admit they forgot about us. None of the food was seasoned. The tartar sauce came in a to go style plastic cup with a lid with the date written on the top... the date from two days ago. The butter for the baked potato wasn 't even real butter, it was small factory bought containers of whipped spread. Even the french fries didn 't have salt on them. That 's American style cooking 101. When the check came it was only $12.32. They were business savvy enough to do the very least they could do to try and make the situation right not charge us for the food it took an hour to bring out. I give one of the many servers my card and when she brings it back, I have been charged for $36! What kind of establishment charges three times what they say will?! I bring this to the server 's attention. Oh, she had your drinks on one tab and the food was on another so I had to put them together. I was so mad I gave them a less than 10% tip and walked out. My husband said I should have left them no tip at all. No one apologized for anything. None of the people that work here care about you or the food. Do not go here."

"We went for my father’s 71st birthday while in whistler on vacation. We arrived for our reservation on time using the Fairmont hotel car, and when we arrived, we were told to sit by the back by a counter full of dirty glasses and giant gallons of cooking oil while they got our table ready. Servers continued to come add more dirty glasses with no one clearing any of them. It felt like they were very understaffed and the majority of the staff were new. Inside the restaurant, it was very bright, no ambiance at all- especially after coming from the fairmont’s mallard bar, which was absolutely beautiful with impeccable service. The drinks and food took hours and then my father’s meat was very undercooked and had to be sent back to cook longer. My husband and father had the same (rosti) and both of them were sick all night and into the next day. We did have a wonderful older woman as our server though who really tried her best to salvage the evening and gave us complimentary wine and chocolate fondue for my father’s birthday- and she also waived the mac and cheese my son ordered as he fell asleep at the table so we ended up taking that to go. She deserves special praise but unfortunately her colleagues did not help. The cheese fondue was delicious though but overall it was very disappointing and not at all what we expected from a Fairmont establishment or per the reviews."
