"This is undoubtedly my favorite place to dine in San Jose's Japantown. Think of it as a more upscale version of Gombei, as Kubota was founded by the same owner. Although it’s a bit pricier, the food quality is exceptional, and unlike Gombei, you won’t have to wait endlessly for a table. The atmosphere is also more inviting, making it a great choice for a date night, and the service is friendly. I highly recommend the beef short ribs, although their sushi combos are quite tasty as well. Kubota seems to use higher quality meat and fish compared to many other restaurants in Japantown. In summary, if you're looking for a delightful dinner in Japantown, Kubota is the place to go."
