"I am a Texan born and raised, and I know BBQ. I love Smokey Mo's and prefer the convenience of the drive-thru as opposed to a full-on restaurant experience of, say, Rudy's Original Country store and BBQ. Today, I pulled into the Smokey Mo's in Boerne. I ordered marbled brisket, trimmed and the girl, Zelle (spelling at the Boerne location drive-thru, tried to tell me that marbled brisket had the fat in it already and couldn't be trimmed. What??? So, I told her I understood and know what Marbled brisket is and that the cutter would know what I meant. She said OKaayyyyyy! and cut me off at the drive thru speaker. Then when I pulled up, she opened the window, looked away from me when I said thank you and rudely stuck the bag out to me before slamming the window shut. I was FLABBERGASTED (to put it nicely). I don't think someone who is short tempered or easily offended or behaves like a spoiled brat should be in the hospitality business or restaurant service. This girl may not have known what she was talking about for whatever reason, but that's not the customer's fault. Her behavior was unfriendly, unprofessional and uncalled for. Lots of people don't know the specifics of ordering bbq meats and THAT'S OKAY. But it's not right for the bbq EMPLOYEE to become retaliatory to an imagined slight just because she doesn't understand what she's selling. The Boerne location Smokey Mo's has frequently had service with a cruddy attitude. It's almost like the owner's aren't around so the employees are left to run the place and treat people as they see fit. As though they are in charge of what happens and are running it their way (into the ground) I bet they treat people better when the owners are actually there. That's called LACK OF INTEGRITY. We used to only go to the one on Shaenfield in San Antonio. We will go back to doing that. Personally, I like the way they treat customers much better at that location. The employees at the Boerne location seem to forget they are working for someone else's business and their behavior reflects on the location as a whole. They aren't doing the franchise owners any favors by making paying, repeat, local customers want to drive out of their way to go to another location. However, that's exactly what we'll be doing from now on. I wasn't even going to mention the fact that the last two times we've been there, we were shorted on our order. We've never complained or went back to have it corrected but enough is enough. We will not be returning to this location."

"I went to Dickey's today around 11:30 AM. Its the 2nd day they are open. I was very pleased with the excellent ribs.I got the rib plate with baked potato casserole and mac and cheese and a roll and pickles to go.They were the best ribs I have had in years. The sides were excellent as well.I also got a free drink for being the first 100 of the customers today and I asked about the free gift bag. They were out but gave me sunglasses,a tote bag, a magnet and a bracelet. The only helpful hints I would say is give to go customers extra napkins or wet wipes with ribs. Also at least for the first few weeks have more than one person taking orders. It was about a 30 to 45 minute wait with about 8 people ahead of me but when I left there were at least 20-30 people in one line. I read the comment above about the misprint of the prices of the pulled pork for yesterday and do agree they should have either had a sign up on all doors and the register that it was a misprint and they were sorry or give it to them for the wrong price that was printed especially since they ordered a large quantity of sandwiches and were going by the flyer which was not posted anywhere that it was wrong. Anyway I would definitely go again for the ribs and sides. Oh, also free ice cream cone if you dine in. She said others were taking it to go so I did due to me having to care for my family's health issues and having to take it to go.Kids eat free on Sundays."

"One thing that I absolutely love about being part of humanity is that each of us has our own feelings and thoughts. Isn 't it amazing that you can be very close to somebody, and yet find out that several of your other close friends don 't like them. Or you go see a Broadway show and you walk out loving it to find out that the others in your group hated it. No one is right and no one is wrong. Each of us has our own perspective and taste, and that makes the world go round and makes it all so interesting! I say that as I begin this review of Jay 's Deli at Friendly Shopping Center because as much as I have been completely baffled over the years why anybody would want to go there, when I went there for lunch the other day due to the choice of my guest, the place was absolutely packed with at least 20 people waiting to get in. I don 't understand that. Jay 's is a deli? I don 't know, but where I come from in New York, a deli is a place you go for outstanding sandwiches like pastrami and corned beef and delicious side dishes like potato salad and coleslaw. To me, Jay 's is one big plastic factory The place is conveniently located at Friendly Shopping Center and there is plenty of parking nearby. As I approached the deli I could not believe how packed it was. Like I said, people were lined up waiting to get in. My guest already had a table waiting for us, so I was happy to join her and was immediately given the bland menu. It was a day I was trying to be healthy and so I ordered a grilled chicken salad. The food came pretty quickly considering how busy the place was, but when I saw what was on my plate, it was understandable t There was very little prep time needed. Some shredded lettuce, a few pieces of tomato and a piece of chicken drowning in some sweet barbecue sauce that I did not like. Nothing had changed since the last time I had been there several years ago. That salad could have been prepared at a Wendy 's drive-thru and I would not have been able to tell the difference. In retrospect, I should have scraped off all of that brown goo that they put on top of the pitiful salad that I was given. It did not take me long to finish it, and I was still hungry when I was done, and if I did not hate the food there so much I would have ordered something else, but I was not in the mood for another piece of plastic to eat I have to give Jay 's Deli props because they have been around as long as I can remember and people love that place as long as I can remember and I have not liked that place as long as I can remember! Service and location was good. Food was lousy. It 's not that easy to get a good deli sandwich in Greensboro, but I say without hesitation, Jay 's Deli ain 't it! Next time you go to New York check out Katz 's Deli on Houston Street and you will know what I 'm talking about. In the meantime, if you want something fast and convenient and don 't care about the taste or quality Jay 's Deli is the place to be!"

"I 'm a BBQ guy, so my expectation is high, especially on a reopened place like this. I really want this place to make it. I revisited Dickey 's on Beltline in Irving after seeing a positive review. Some suggestions to the new owner on the food side. Decide if you 're going to slice or chop the brisket. Halfway in-between isn 't good either way. I suggest you offer both and have the cutter ask which way customers want it*. The taste of the brisket (the only meat I tried) is OK, but it needs more smoke taste and smell. It was tender and lean, that 's a good thing. Serve full size Onion rings not those 'tangler ' things. They tend to burn half the order. On the service side: *Turn down the radio! I know you want to create excitement but if the mild manored cutter can 't hear you, it doesn 't work. The cutter saying Onion rings are available but aren 't on the menu is a bummer. After saying YES on availability, he had to ask the assistant. All employees should know the menu, especially the guy taking the orders. Don 't have the cutter try to up-sale customers. If I only want one vegetable (Onion rings), I should be able to order that. By employing a middle eastern guy you may get an employee (cutter) but it doesn 't get you a guy people can understand. Last, $8.25 seems expensive for just a brisket sandwich only, but time and Supply Demand will tell.. Hope this is constructive. Irving needs BBQ. Good luck."
