"The food was excellent. However, I gave the service 3 stars because when I arrived before the rest of my party, I was hoping to start with a glass of wine, some water, and perhaps some hummus while I waited. Unfortunately, no one came to greet me or ask if I needed anything. It wasn't until my companions arrived about 15 minutes later that a server came over to welcome us, and from that point on, the service was good for the rest of the evening. Back in my days of waiting tables – which was a while ago, at 48 years old – I was trained to greet customers within 30 seconds of their arrival. I wonder what happened to that standard? I would have appreciated even a brief acknowledgment or smile to show that they recognized I was there, even if it took a few minutes."
