"Down in the heart of the city, there are many upscale dining choices for non vegetarians. What is a veg*n to do? Thankfully, there are some choices that help out the hungry veg*n looking for a haute cuisine experience DC style. This is an excellent venue when you are trying to impress someone for business, romance, family or otherwise. The decor is very red, and the theme is very Spanish. The staff is incredible and attentive. So, veg*ns, here's what you do: ask for the vegetarian menu! If you don't, you will sulk and be sad, and stare at the menu of what you cannot have. Also, if you are very sensitive, you may still want to avoid this place, as they have mussels and meat, seafood and the like. If you can get past that and encourage your fellow diners to share in some vegan tapas, all the better! They have a lengthy 2 page vegetarian menu, with plenty of vegan choices. If you're unsure, ask your waiter the kitchen can make some of the veg items vegan, but many already are. For those interested, they have a sommelier to suggest excellent wine choices with your meal. Good food choices include asparagus, peppers, spinach, paella and fresh fruit for dessert. However, I felt like eating here was more about the experience. The food is fresh and flavorful with incredible attention to plating and details, as the price tag would dictate, but it was the whole experience that made this exceptional."

"I would not at all recommend Wilfrid`s for their buffet brunch. While the cold buffet offers a few higher end choices, such as cold prawns, smoked salmon and fresh lettuce with its accoutrements, the mixed salads are nondescript and loaded with objectionable ingredients. The hot buffet is unimaginative, limited and in my experience at least, always dried up, unappetizing and overcooked, even when the buffet opens. Half empty selections are neither rearranged nor removed, there is a preponderance of either cheap cuts of beef, pork and other dishes which do not cater to traditional food restrictions, the fish is overdone and over spiced, and the so-called chef behind the counter is defensive and unhelpful. It is not possible to order an egg done the way you like it, the fresh fruit is tasteless and not ripe, there is no fresh squeezed juice or even semblance thereof, and the dessert table is uninspiring. On the positive front, the atmosphere is pleasant, though the chairs are so heavy that even a prize fighter would have trouble moving them in and out from the table. Depending on which server is assigned to your table, the service can be friendly, but even that is inconsistent, as the staff usually does not attend to the guests as they should, probably because it is a buffet. In short, use your hard earned dollars for an à la carte brunch somewhere else and possibly try this place for a drink and a snack."

La Mer Seafood

La Mer Seafood

"Ah, La Mer Seafood Market in Armonk, NY, where good times and seafood come together like old friends. This marked a long overdue first visit to this little gem to which I have learned it has been serving fresh seafood to the Upper Westchester scene for nearly half a century. But here's the kicker – fresh seafood never gets old, and neither does the charm of La Mer. Now, when you're friends with a guy like Chef Sean Wiener, you know you're in for something special. Sean's the maestro behind the scenes, and he's been around the culinary block. He's not just cookin' up dishes; he's weaving together coastal seafood classics, a touch of Jewish soul, and a pinch of those exotic Asian flavors he picked up on his travels. But what really makes La Mer stand out is the family vibe. When you walk through that door, you're not just a customer; you're part of their extended family. They'll greet you like an old buddy they haven't seen in ages and, trust me, they can't wait to serve you up some goodness. In a world where trends come and go faster than last night's dreams, La Mer is a timeless classic. It's where tradition shakes hands with innovation. So, if you find yourself anywhere near Armonk, you've got a date with La Mer Seafood Market. Get ready for a warm welcome, a belly full of heaven, and a reminder that fresh seafood is always in style – just like good friendships."
