"This was the second time dining at Salt Charcoal since an overall pleasant experience for my birthday dinner back in November last year. The same issues that I let slide last time still remained and we had the same server who I assume is the main issue. We have some food allergies and had called prior to make sure that they were flexible and aware how to prepare. The receptionist assured we would be fine and they are accommodating. Back in November we had received food with no modifications and had to sadly send it back although it was beautifully presented. We waited a while again before a new one came out and we thought ok all is good. Fast forward to two nights ago and we have the same waiter. He was still unsure of almost every ingredient in the dishes and was not confident in any answer often saying yes then oh no wait.. yes. At this point we made sure that they could prepare what we had last time. When it came out it was missing several ingredients that are gluten free already... We had to then request that those ingredients that were missing be added back. Again the food is delicious here and I love the presentation. It is just not a fun experience when your service is unsure what to do and doesn 't seek immediate help from the kitchen or other staff. Allergies are no joke and it should be the responsibility of the staff to be aware of what they can and cannot serve their clients."

"this was our second visit in yakuza and we enjoyed every delicious bite! after we were stumbled over the restaurant a few months ago, while bar with friends who visited the state, we swarmed through the fresh of sushi, the inventive side and the yakuza burger – we would say the best in portland! we couldn't wait to go back. we brought friends again to share the experience and rave them over yakuza. we all enjoyed it. the atmosphere is super cool, with atmospheric lighting, beautiful bar and beautiful wall paintings. the big windows offer a great street view and, it seems that in summer they are able to roll out the bar to open it – I want to return for this experience."

"Not a pleasant experience. The waitress was very slow and missing in action. The chef had good intentions and attitude but he put way too much soy sauce in everything and made the food too salty. Also, the order in which he plated was completely off. Lastly, the vent hood didn’t work properly and we all smell like hibachi. As a result, I’ll have to take my coat to the dry cleaners and wash all my clothes ASAP. Not to mention I’m taking a shower once I get home. Price wise, it was very expensive … – show"
