"Not typical soul food, so don’t expect that. This location has always been an upscale location and has lovely decor. I’ve had two dinners and one lunch at this location. Expecting more true southern cuisine, I’m disappointed with what’s offered. My last menu experience was the chicken, although okay, it was less than tender and considering the cost, a bit small in size. They seem to sprinkle gold (pixie) dust on everything. It’s a fun garnish, but adds nothing to the taste. I’ve also experienced their shrimp and grits. Again, it was okay, but the grits were rather dry. This, too, was served dusted with gold dust. It’s not something I will order again. I prefer the traditional southern grits. Out of the three dining experiences, only once did I find the wait staff to be above and beyond. Overall the service is fine, but they could appear a little happier about taking your order. I don’t expect them to engage global politics or display photos of friends and family, but a simple smile and overall pleasant persona would be nice. My friends love this place, but I was expecting more traditional southern soul food. That’s my biggest disappointment. However, I do like the atmosphere and that I can engage in conversation with my friends without shouting. I most likely will dine there again since my friends enjoy the food and I enjoy being with my friends."

"We had 2022 dinner for the first time in Hops on Friday night of the Memorial Day. After reading Hops is a small one and we discovered very personally! Restaurant, which does not take reservations, we arrived at their opening time of 5pm and sat immediately; at 5:45 there was only one table available for two. We tourists from Oklahoma, we love to try new things, so two of our four groups ordered the Tri-fecta Hunter trio meal of sample / slider size burgers from Bison, Elk and Yak. One of these trios was mine. I've never eaten one of the three, but my bucket list says I have to try new things. My first bite was the bison and it splashed red over my plate and on my white sweatshirt. Now I am someone who normally ordered all food well, zero pink, no shine: but I did not cut and run after the first bite because it was DELICIOUS! I didn't really bite into the red middle and I finished eating around the edges. It was probably my favorite of the three and if I can return, I will be sure to order well. The Elchburger was delicious, no pink and 100% consumed. The meat of the Yak Burger was good, but Hops makes the slider with a jalapeno sauce that wasn't to my taste. I scratched the sauce and enjoyed the meat. I ordered my dinner with frits and no one in our group has ever seen frits cut the way these were: thicker cut flat curls that were wonderfully flavored and cooked. If I wanted something else, they had a long list of pages I could have chosen. The third and fourth meal in our group were the peculiarities of the evening: Mahi-mahi $30 and a 16 oz steak $40 . The lady who ordered the Mahi-mahi was still there as good as the next day; the steak was good, though not as tender as we would have seen. Our waitress deserved every penny of our generous tip: She was superb not only to serve us and help us choose, but also to answer our questions about the Kalispell range. I will definitely return to Hops, should the opportunity arise and recommend that you also enjoy it."
