"Four of us thought we could have a quick supper, Sunday night, 9/24. We arrived about 5:50. No crowd. No wait for a table. The host did the bare minimum, no smiles, no welcome, no pleasantries. He looked bored. Waitress was perky, very friendly, seemed busy, made repeated complaints about the cooks and how fed up she was. She brought water in ten minutes and said she’d be “right back” take our order. About 15 minutes later, she took the order which was very simple with no changes or substitutions. My only request was for the bacon in my BLT TO BE VERY CRISP. Both of us repeated this twice, so she was clear. Fifteen minutes later, she came to clarify our order again, telling us how slow and incompetent the cooks were. Thirty more minutes went by and she assured us we would get our food eventually, that the cooks were busy but really slow. She chatted, was friendly and apologetic. After an hour and ten minutes, nothing there were mostly empty tables. The host was lounging at the register, thumbing disinterestedly through receipts. I approached him in a not-hostile, not irritable manner, but alerted him to the fact we had been here over an hour and were still waiting for our order. He looked at me blankly, said not a word, no apology, no assurances, nothing. He meandered back to the kitchen and I finally returned to my table. Several minutes later the waitress who seemed harried, came out and was again apologetic, again repeating how tired she was of dealing with the incompetent cooks. 10-15 minutes later, our food was served. My daughters French toast and scrambled eggs were COLD; the butter didn’t change shape, much less melt. My BLT was ok except the bacon was barely cooked; it was almost warmed uncooked bacon. I began tearing off the really rawest parts which was at least half the bacon. The waitress angrily declared sh had told them CRISP, again saying how fed up she was. She marched back to the kitchen and brought a plate of hastily-cooked, semi-burnt, but crisp bacon. Then she said she was giving us all free pie. We were so late for my grandson’s hockey game already, I skipped the pie. I’ve had many meals at Perkins and NEVER had to wait an hour and 15 minutes for a simple, straightforward order. No complaints about he waitress, but the host or whoever was in charge obviously couldn’t care less and the management is clearly equally incompetent. I would NEVER go to this Perkins again. There were probably not more than two or three other tables with customers in the whole place. The food was suboptimal, the host was utterly worthless, and the wait was galling. Avoid this place. I certainly will. Parking: Lots of space due to hardly any customers. "The Black Horse Diner Restaurant is located along the Black Horse Pike in Mount Ephraim, NJ. I have been here several times over the years when I have visited the area. My most recent visit was on October 7, 2019. I was in the area at the end of September and the beginning of October, as I had scheduled back to back cruises on the Disney Magic. During this entire trip, I came in for breakfast on September 23, 2019 and also had lunch here on October 7, 2019. For the visit on September 23, 2019, we were immediately seated and then greeted by our server. She asked if we wanted anything to drink while we looked over the menu. I did go with an apple juice, which would be included with what I would order. After getting the drinks, we were ready to order. I went with the #3 Breakfast Combination with French Toast and bacon. About eight to ten minutes later, the food came out. The food came out very hot and fresh. The food was excellent as I had experienced in years prior. Service was great and timely throughout as well. The next visit would be for lunch a few days after getting off the cruise. Just like the other visit, we were immediately seated and then greeted by our server. On this visit, I went with their Bacon Cheeseburger special entree, which included soup and dessert too. For the soup, I went with the chicken noodle soup, which was the first thing to come out. The soup was very good and hot. It was nice to have before the meal. Shortly after that, the entree came out to the table. The burger looked really good, tasted great, juicy, and was cooked exactly has I had asked. After the meal, I also got to choose from a dessert, and I went with the tapioca pudding, which was also very good. Over the experiences I have had for several years now, this is by far my favorite diner to stop at when I am in the area. The service has been excellent, along with the food and general experience. If you are in this area, this is definitely a diner to come to. I will definitely be back if I am in the area again in the future."

"in the valley inn! eating is delicious, they give very generous portions, the staff was welcoming, and they have a lot of sitting and beautiful ambiente. I had two problems with this visit. our waitress was friendly and decided to bring extra bread that she said was “deviled” but it was extremely heavy and barely edible. they volunteer to bring extra bread, as we decided to share the crab-dip assizer, we had very hard and overly roasted bread pieces in the round 4. I appreciate that she was mentally enough to get extra. we hate to give back food or create a fuss, so we tried to blow it and dive into the crabs. I think the brot is ciabatta brot, which of course has a little hard outside / soft in but this brot was hard all in all! we tried to knock on it, but the hard was unbearable and when the waitress came back, we hardly ate them back to her. we told her it was too hard and we couldn't eat it. I asked for her to bring more broth, but not to shy, hoping that could help, but this time she brought cold hard broth! we didn't want to make a big deal of it, so we just let it sit there. of course, to say that she was still charged for the extra brot that she originally offered that I thought honestly was free (it said "$1.00 extra brot" on my rucksack. Please get her a better and softer selection of broth like naan brot, weizenroll, chewing French brot! hard brot is only good for diving in very hot suppening, which naturally soften the broth when it once dipped! also the stands in the middle room are great! and very spacious, however there is an unpleasant design from the very rear room, the large windows that are not properly isolated! Last time I visited, we sat in the back and it was badly isolated in the month of December! I think there are overhead heating or warm lights back there that have helped, but the room is still cool, which makes the dining room a bit unpleasant."
