"Food, service and atmosphere are all superior! The owners and staff are cordial and friendly. The best Greek Restaurant in Chicagoland! Order the saganaki to start delicious! Order the paidakia for 6 of the best thin cut marinated lamb chops you will ever eat! Their lamb shank with red sauce is amazing. I always get it with peas in the same red sauce. All their fish dishes are out of this world! The pastichio is also phenomenal, if you want a pasta dish. Their alcoholic beverages are generous pours. Their Greek desserts are second to none! My favorites are galaktoboureko (custard with filo dough) and baklava. There is nothing bad on the menu! DO NOT MISS THIS EXPERIENCE! There is no longer outdoor dining since Covid ended. That outdoor dining area was returned to parking. Free valet parking is offered. First come first served. No reservations are taken. Get there early for the shortest wait time."

"Ovelia is really lovely!! I had brunch here for the first time this weekend and it was a great experience my girlfriends I sat on the covered patio and the atmosphere was so nice! Our waitress was amazing; she was so attentive and gave us all the time we needed to catch up enjoy our cocktails and meals without making us feel rushed or hurried. The drinks here are awesome I had The Grexican and it was so refreshing!! The food is so good, too (try the hummus the fries, the Salmon Toast is great as well). I highly recommend this spot!"

"When we first came inside the owner and chef came to greet us nicely and recommended some food. I ordered the gyro wrap. They got our order wrong, and when I asked them to just wrap my order, the lied to me that they don't serve gyro wrap past 4pm. Ive ordered here many times past 4pm and there should be no reason why they can't make a gyro wrap in a GREEK place. The waiter has no idea what he is doing, and the owner and head chef tried to play dumb with us that he had no idea what was happening. "My friend and I took my wife here for her birthday. We met up late so we were hungry! For 5 people, we ordered 5 appetizers, salad and 4 main.For apps we got the 4 dip which came with very thin pita. The consensus favorite was the tzatziki. The eggplant and Tamara (carp roe) were close runner ups. The scordalia was like mashed potatoes... Could skip it. The grilled octopus was ok. A bit burnt for some pieces but at least it wasn't mushy like many other restaurants. The gigades (Lima beans in tomato sauce) was tasty. Good to have with some bread. The loukaniko (Greek sausage) was pretty sizable and flavorful. The Greek salad was alright... Came with a slab of tasty feta. The grilled sardines were exactly what they were. Very lightly battered and bite sized snacks.For the main dishes, my favorite was the shrimp desfina. It was almost like a risotto topped with garlic shrimp. The tenderloin tips were super tender. The crinkle cut fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sea bass was a bit overcooked where the skin was too charred for me and the fish was a bit dry. Lastly we had the mussels chablis. So good with bread.They don't skimp on the portions. The waiter was also phenomenal. He gave us some suggestions, was attentive but not overbearing. He brought out the cake which they sliced up already and sang happy birthday with us. Then when we had some leftover, he didn't even ask if we wanted a box... He just brought it out as if he read our minds.Very good experience!"

"FIRST THE WEBSITE showed a prix fixe lunch at 39 wehn we got there it was 55 and the waitress said that the website had not been updated a little embarrassing when you have recommended it to someone who is picking up the tab she loved her salad and sardines my moussaka was rather dry and not much flavor but then have just spent a week in Greece where ate several wonderful moussakas at a third or half the price had eaten at Ammos before and had a very good memory of it but would not go back"
