"I understand that any Stephanie Izard restaurant is going to be a bit controversial. That being said, she creates some of the best vegan dishes out there. When you arrive, ask for the vegetarian menu. The server will generally ask if you have any dietary restrictions this is when you let them know you're vegan. The vegetarian menu can make every option on it vegan with the exception of the scallion pancakes (which I find a little odd, because you can get vegan scallion pancakes at the Little Goat). Everything I have tried has been amazing! So far I've had: the mushroom potstickers, hot sour soup, house-fermented veggies, moo shu vegetables, and the mapo doufu. Keep in mind that these dishes are meant to be shared family-style so you can rack up a bill pretty quickly. The things I tried were enough to fill up two people about $30 each. Because of the quality and flavor of these dishes, I personally believe it's worth it. The place is extravagantly decorated each section with it's own mini-theme. Great for special occasions or for when you're really craving delicious Chinese food. I have yet to visit during their Dim Sum hours and haven't ordered carry-out so I can't speak for either of those experiences. This is definitely a place where you have to make reservations in advance or show up the second they open their doors and hope for the best."
