"Within 8 minutes of sitting down, we already had our drinks and delicious dinner salads. The salads were refreshing, featuring crisp lettuce paired with fresh onions, tomatoes, cheese, and crunchy chow mein noodles. They were dressed with just the right amount of blue cheese dressing, which was absolutely delightful. I'm not sure if it’s a house recipe, but the creamy sauce was dotted with perfectly distributed pieces of blue cheese. While we enjoyed our salads, our appetizer of onion straws arrived, accompanied by a house BBQ sauce. The crunchy onion straws, paired with the sweet, brownish BBQ sauce, created a delightful flavor experience. When our main courses arrived, I couldn’t contain my excitement. I ordered the "choice two" dish, featuring a sirloin steak cooked rare to medium. I was not disappointed—it was cooked perfectly. The juicy, savory flavors sparkled with every bite, and really, no steak sauce was necessary, as the beautifully seasoned meat spoke for itself. The BBQ ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, their thick seasoning melting in my mouth, enhanced by a drinkable sauce slathered on top. My baked sweet potato was cooked to perfection, with the ideal amount of cinnamon butter to mix in. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Porterhouse, declaring it the best meal we’ve shared together! He even complimented the chef, praising it as an award-winning dish. Our server, Alexis K., was absolutely wonderful. She had a keen sense of our needs and checked in with us at just the right times, while also engaging us in friendly conversation throughout our meal. Hats off to her and the phenomenal kitchen team! I highly recommend the Hickory House! The prices are typical for a steakhouse, and every bite we had was worth it. You really can’t go wrong here. Thank you, Hickory House! We will definitely be back in the future!"

"Our 5pm reservation was promptly honored on our arrival. The restaurant is in what appears to be a former airport administration building and sits nearly on the tarmac. We started our meal with a glass of local Texas winery Bending Branch Cab Sav wine. It was by far the best red wine either of us has tasted and well worth the semi expensive price. Next was Salmon Sliders and Potato Skins appetizers. The salmon was absolutely delicious. Cooked to a perfect crispiness. The potao skins were below average. They were either left over from lunch or held at a totally too high temperature post baking. Either of those will cause the edges to dry out and the potato meat to turn gray in color. The 6oz filets redeemed this one faux pas magnificently. Just melt in your mouth perfection. We had mashed sweet potatoes, cheesy grits and fruit with the entrees. My wife said the sweet potatoes were great but I never touch them so we will take her word for it. The grits were different from my usual Deep South experience but fantastic anyway. The fruit was cold, sweet and fresh. Our server, April was very well trained, beautiful and very intelligent. She graduates from Texas AM this spring. (If you cant go to Kentucky or Alabama then I guess AM will suffice. Lol) Overall Gate 12 was everything we expected and more including the beautiful view of the airport comings and goings. If we could fly anywhere in the world for dinner we would say no thanks and dine right here at Gate 12 College Station Texas."
