"On a recent trip to Lubbock, I decided to try a breakfast place that reflects the local scene here. So I stopped in at The Farmhouse. While the service people were good, I was probably their most interesting first morning customer of the week. I ordered a plate of sausage patties, toast, morning potatoes, and basted eggs. There was one problem, though. Their staff did not know how to do basted eggs. One assistant did come in last second and teach the crew how it's done; in the meantime, I decided to put in an order of scrambled eggs just in case things didn't work out for the basted eggs. Okay, to be fair, many places don't really do basted at all or like others, and many have limited egg choices. I just didn't want to get the usual fried eggs like I often do. When everything did come out, the reviews are mixed. The basted eggs were just okay and somewhat runny, but at least the staff can get an A for putting in an effort. The scrambled eggs were just fine and were the better choice that morning. Those had a wonderful texture. Elsewhere, the sausage patties were just fair, but would probably taste a little better if each were nestled between two buttery biscuit halves. Unfortunately, I've had better. The potatoes were good and did have a country flavor, and the toast was well-prepared. Also had some really good coffee and good orange juice. To be fair, I can still come back and try their bacon as well as their omelettes and French toast. This was, in no way, a total loss. And if you've got very good coffee (which Farmhouse has), then that will lure me back. Both the decor and the service were really good. Yes, I'll give these guys another try. If it's a hit with locals, then that alone should give it consideration. Drop by and get a really good cup of joe right here."
