"It's a decent Mexicamerican place. The Painkiller was a good non-Margherita drink option. The guacamole still is great, as are most of the foods you'd expect to find...it's just not quite as good as it was years ago. Vegetarian options: They are pretty good about tweaking the menu options to cater to tastes. Dietary restrictions: Again, they are usually pretty accommodating to tweaking dishes...it really depends on your restrictions. Parking: Largish parking lot with overflow spaces at the old Rec Center. Kid-friendliness: It is a family restaurant."

"I had a delightful dinner at this restaurant and enjoyed every aspect of my experience! Before my visit, I read some reviews and found that the restaurant, including the booths and tables, was very clean. I ordered the Arroz Con Pollo while my partner opted for the Carne Asada taco dinner. Both meals were made with high-quality ingredients, fresh, and incredibly satisfying—all at reasonable prices. A tip: the complimentary chips and salsa really enhance the dining experience. Our waitress, Dallas, was exceptional—she was incredibly nice, considerate, and thoughtful, making it the best service we've had in a long time. We truly appreciated her recommendations and the chips and salsa to take home. Thank you, Dallas!"

"The service and ambiance here was excellent. The menu was very well rounded. We got filet mignon and Royal Red Shrimp to share with salads, sauteed garlic mushrooms and baked potato. "Not at all what I expected from the photo, but in a good way! Photos looked like any other dry ish burrito. This was a flavorful plate of awesome the sauce was great, jalapenos were freshly pickled. Olives in the burrito is odd but worked great. Really good meat. Quite pleased!"

"This review is in regards to the bar area, not the restaurant area. Never eaten there so I can’t attest to that part. I had heard mixed reviews about Baja Bean in Staunton and have been to lovely chains in other cities. I flew into town to visit my family and my mom, siblings and I went to grab a drink to end the night. My mid-50s mother was denied entry at the door for forgetting her ID (understandable I guess; she went back and got it) and we sat at a table and ordered one drink each. Service was decent, drinks were good. My brother ordered a second drink and finished it and we went to go cash out. I paid for one of his double whisky sours and my sister paid for his second double whisky sour. Nothing out of the ordinary. Here’s the strange part:We go to cash out our tickets and notice that they seem off. We asked for our itemized receipts, corrected the charges with a pen, and the bartender returned with our updated totals. When we got our updated totals, we were charged two completely different prices for the exact same double whisky sour. When we asked for the tickets to be corrected again, the bartender told us we were drunk and it was the same number (we both had ONE drink). I circled the whisky sours on both tickets where it clearly says one cost $16 and one cost $19.50. The bartender refused to look into the discrepancy and replied with “stiff me if you want to, I don’t care!” Ma’am, we’re simply trying to figure out why the same drink costs two different prices, but ok yeah sure. We walk out without tipping because we were already overcharged and at that point she was just being nasty. As we’re calmly walking out of the bar trying to figure out what the heck just happened, another bartender comes running out behind us saying “they’re banned for life! all of them!” Umm yeah ok, half of us don’t even live here and the other half definitely won’t be returning at this point anyway. It was the weirdest bar experience of my life.If you’re confused by this, so are we. If you choose to drink here, make sure to check the itemized receipt before paying. Also watch your bank account because my sister ended up with a random $39 pending charge she had to dispute in addition to her actual bill.tldr; my family of four went in for one drink and ended up getting overcharged and banned for life over a bill they refused to correct."

"Great tex-mex food and overwhelming house margaritas at this big strip-mall restaurant and bar. Four stars for food and drink, but service still needs some training. House frozen Margarita was huge, strong and surprisingly good, plenty of lime flavor and intensely cold. Just $6. Did I mention strong!? Seriously, it's great when they actually put in some tequila, not just wave the bottle nearby LOL. Chips are not quite as dense as typical house-made corn chips, they're a little puffy and just barely salted. Salsa comes in a small bottle, pour as much as you want in your own little dish. Notably spicy, almost medium, great. Om nom nom, who needs an entree? On weekends you can still get the cheap lunch menu at midday, awesome. Just $7 for most combo plates is a total steal. I had the lunch tamale special, a chicken tamale with red chile sauce, a crispy corn taco plus mex rice. Excellent tamale, not dry. Taco had seasoned (but not sauced ground beef, lettuce and cheese, good. Red rice was much better than expected, a tad crispy in places. About that service. Not everybody speaks English, the kitchen was a little slow with our food even tho the place was pretty quiet and my order went in wrong. So my food came out wrong, our waiter fixed it but didn't fix the computer. And then of course the bill was wrong. Front counter people fixed that too, and threw in a free cinco de mayo tee shirt plus a coupon. They're really trying here. The huge cantina area has eight (8! TV screens, a broad choice of tequilas and friendly bartenders, very nice. The Alegre margarita is a frozen margarita with a corona kinda added on top. Hmm, a Coronarita. Uh, maybe next time. Very yelp geeky to be reviewing a Mexican place on cinco de Mayo I know, but hey, what can I say :"

"I love this place. I repeatedly have gotten a burger. Its cooked how I like. It's juicy. It's deelish. Great buns. The sweet potato fries are the best I've ever had. And this is take out. The food is fresh and amazing. They will make you a good lattetoo. They have a point program too. Friendly staff. It's a bit expensive for lunch. I go here as a treat once in a while. If itwas more affordable I'd go way more. The only complaint I have is that I sent an email to have them cater a lunch and no oneever got back to me."

"This restaurant has great potential, but it really needs better staffing. There was just one waitress handling both hosting and serving, alongside one person managing the cash register. We waited 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged our presence. When my food finally arrived, it was lukewarm, which I suspect was due to understaffing rather than the cooks' performance. While the flavors were enjoyable, I don't think I'll be coming back again due to the management issues. Cost per person: $10–20."

"Everybody was nice. The food and salsa was wonderful as always.The server was friendly, but made a few mistakes. We were a party of stuff happens. No biggie.What I DID have a problem with was the staff vacuuming and moving furniture in the middle of our meal They close at Plus, the vacuum they were using was an old crappy one. I don't think that thing was picking up a thing. Yuck!Mostly, my issue was that I found it rude and unwelcoming to have staff vacuuming and moving furniture all around us."

"There are many better choices for Mexican food here in Athens. The last two times we have been to Agua Linda there have been serious concerns. Besides service being slow, poor customer service, etc there has been food concerns which were ignored. A reasonable person would assume if the food took a long time to come out it was due to being prepared fresh but not here. The food takes forever to come out and when it does it is cold, grease has gotten gelatinous/solidified in the food and the presentation is a haphazard plate of food almost mixed together. Again, this is not the first instance but an ongoing concern. In addition, two of the three meals ordered the meal was cold and not cooked and when brought to the servers attention they whisked the plate away without a word. A manager returns to the table and explains the meal was inspected and is good instead it becomes our fault for not understanding how the prepared meat should taste or be presented. Wait, there is more, yesterday we ordered and the meat was rancid smelling. We were told the meat in all the dishes ordered was acceptable to the cook and the manager stated the issue was the “onions’. She continued an attempt to convince our eating party that the rancid meat was due to onions which “sat in the bottom of a container” that may or may not have developed a bad taste and odor. Hmm, two of our dishes had no onions so I find fault in their logic. As quick as the rehearsed explanation was given the manager disappeared from table side to avoid any further discussion or questions. This restaurant is extremely over-priced for what you get (possible food poisoning included) and what you pay for… I try not to vent complaints in the open I would rather address it with staff and such and just not comment about a restaurants poor performance. I would rather save my response to be positive and to encourage others to visit the best restaurants. Needless to say We Will NOT return."

"Our new favorite restaurant! Huge thanks to Gerry for the fantastic service. We tried this place for the first time on Saturday and we're so happy we did! It was hands down the best Mexican restaurant we've ever been to. All their dishes are authentic, with recipes passed down through generations. The food was incredibly delicious, and we will definitely be back. The homemade beans and rice really stand out in flavor. We highly recommend this spot! "Hostess upon entry acted like she hated being there, waitress new nothing about the restaurants offering and provided terrible service as well. The salsa was basically enchilada sauce with some extra seasoning and the margaritas were with a mix that was basically undrinkable. I was lucky the server forgot mine. I paid for the few drinks and left with my group for another establishment. No one from the restaurant cared. Better off at Taco Bell or...The Old Pueblo Cafe where we ended up."

"Man, this place has gone downhill. Apparently now you only receive one complimentary basket of chips and one little dish of salsa. We had a table of 4 adults and 1/3 of the chips were broken into small pieces. One basket of chips for FOUR adults. We asked for another basket and were told it would be an additional charge, which we have never encountered from a Mexican place! I ordered fajitas and our server asked if I wanted shredded cheese or guacamole. OR?!? One or the other…for a $25 meal??? What a joke! We used to dine here quite frequently, but we will definitely never be back."
