"Nuevo Mexico has some of the most outstanding food that will ever grace your lips! Every food is freshly prepared and made with so much love and fresh ingredients. This gem of a restaurant is in my own neighborhood and has been here almost 30 years and I never knew about it. The decor from when you walk in is very rustic and makes you feel transported to Mexico in all the best ways then you get greeted by very friendly staff and then they bring you chips and salsa to start. The salsa is so amazingly good you already know everything afterwards is only going to get better. They have many flavors of margaritas to choose from and many different tequilas to use as well to enhance your margarita drinking experience. Their house margarita is the jalepeno margarita and if you like things a little spicy you will love it, if not all the rest of the margaritas are delish too. Now I had the fish tacos which I must say is the best tacos I ever ate before. I also had the shrimp tacos as well delicious but didn't have enough shrimp to be as fulfilling. Then I had the Camarones a la Mojo de Ajo and it comes with the most succulent jumbo shrimp in a smooth and flavor filled garlic sauce and yellow rice. It was beyond amazing and I wish I could eat this everyday! Affordable, yummy and they have happy hour all week long and also live music on Friday nights! "Statesville has many really good Mexican restaurants, but we believe Mi Pueblo is the best. The outside looks like a hacienda and the inside keeps it going, with really lovely large framed paintings on the wall, faux rooftops, etc. The booths are high and comfortable. It is very clean as well. All of the employees we 've encountered have been very helpful and polite. They start you off with the ubiquitous chips salsa. They offer mild hot salsa, we usually ask for one of each. We 've tried the original guacamole, which is freshly made and chunky. Worth the higher price than the other dip version. They have a large margarita menu. I 've tried the skinny frozen one and the regular lime on the rocks. Both were delicious. My husband is very happy that they have Modelo Negro on tap (draft , since it 's one of his favorite beers. I 've been on an enchilada kick and boy does this place deliver. My favorite is the Enchiladas Ranchero which is two cheese enchiladas with your choice of pork, chicken or beef, and beans rice. The sauce on this dish is one of the most delicious things I 've ever had. The pork is fabulous, large chunks practically melt in your mouth. The chicken version is also extremely tender. Their beans and rice are also top-notch, nothing fancy, but tasty and comforting. We 've tried both the churros and the sopapillas for dessert and both were very good, served warm and freshly made. They have special deals on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with the latter being 1/2 priced enchilada day. (So worth it! There are daily drink specials on the board when you first walk inside. They are also starting to advertise Cinco de Mayo specials. Yes, the parking lot is small, but one can always park at Aldi 's behind it if it 's full. I highly recommend Mi Pueblo and encourage you to come and try it. It 's a fun place with great food."
