"This was our first visit to Agave. We went for Happy Hour on Taco Tuesday. This combination proved to be beneficial as both specials were available to us. The tacos, while small (street taco size), were really tasty! And the sauces that accompanied the food were spectacular. The happy hour menu had a variety of drink specials really something for everyone. We felt the specials offered a good value for the money. The restaurant itself is very attractive, and the service was amazing. Thank you Agave, we will definitely return!"

"I had a great experience here on three occasions over the years (over the past 14yrs or so). It seems totally different now on my fourth trip. We walked in at the time of my reservation for two 5:00PM on a Friday (all the was available on open table). I waited in line behind a customer who as at the hostess station. The hostess stepped aside and asked if she could help me. I announced that I had a reservation for two (we were on time). The hostess told the other customer that she would take care of me and be right back. We were taken to the back room; it had a ski resort bar food feel but same expensive prices. (happy hour had mussels at 15 vs 20) We were not looking for a happy hour deal. The place was at 30-50% and the waitress was in a big hurry and not friendly. I was really taken aback and walked to the front room to see if it was packed and figure out why we got shuffled to the back... nope not busy. The staff watched me look around and return to the back room.. no offer to move us and not worth making a fuss, we decided to not go big on steaks and wine. We had one beer, water, the mussels appetizer and two hamburgers spent $100+. It was so disappointing, make sure you ask for the front room before they seat you if you are looking for fine dining."

"We passed by this restaurant around 100 times. I always thought it looked intriguing, especially with the upstairs area they added. We finally decided to stop by for lunch on a Saturday. I’m not quite sure what type of cuisine I had in mind, but I was surprised to discover it was a Mexican restaurant. The interior was somewhat busy and felt a bit cramped, so we chose to sit outside. The menu had very few pictures, and the entrees were written in Spanish, which made it a bit challenging for us to understand."

"Outstanding place! My husband and I visited the Saturday after Thanksgiving for a late lunch/early dinner. We didn't have a reservation and decided to do a walk in. We got seated fairly quickly and also opted to sit outside. It was a truly beautiful day, and the sun was still shining, so we didn't mind. Almost all the diners were seated outside! This place was a dream come true for me. Although I'm not vegan, I am vegetarian and also allergic to nuts. The menu specifies which dishes were nut free though, which was AMAZING. My husband, who is a carnivore, also really enjoyed the place. We ordered ceviche for an appetizer, the trio tacos (jackfruit, tofu, and barbacoa), and the flautas for our meal. The tacos and ceviche were literally out of this world!! The ceviche was mouthwatering, and we licked the bowl clean. Of the 3 tacos, our favorite was the tofu and barbacoa. I also ordered a spicy mezcal margarita, which was strong but absolutely delicious. We ordered churros for dessert, and it was really delicious but the scoop of ice cream they gave was super tiny. All in all, an amazing meal to end our trip in Cali. Highly recommend would love to come back again!"

"The appetizer was absolutely the highlight; I had expected the chopped salmon to be warm, but it was a bit cool, which surprisingly complemented the flavors on the chip quite well. The tacos were perfectly cooked—they're not something I find often, and I truly appreciate well-made tacos. For dessert, I had something that resembled a doughnut but had a different name; it was incredibly delicious. The chocolate on it reminded me of the kind you'd find in coffee or a milkshake, which added a unique flavor twist. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, making it a great place to sit and enjoy good conversation with friends."

"I don’t know where to begin. The customer service is top notch and that sort of was enough . The girls there accommodated us outside on the lovely patio even though it had just rained and the place was wet. The server, didn’t get name sadly (but look for the young lady with a bandana was super duper amazing, recommending the food and drinks as per our requirements and Nothing disappointed us. We ordered the nachos with guacamole, then queso fundido with mushrooms and shrimp corn tacos with black beans. And an awesome strawberry, guava virgin margarita (so delicious . I have eaten a lot of Mexican in my life but this one was amazing. Everything tasted and smelt fresh, the team there were so awesome and friendly and the ambience was lovely (especially since it had just rained and we got the patio seating . Definitely coming back especially with anyone who visits us. Great job guys!!!"

"We stopped by Jalapeño King after leaving an overpriced food truck nearby—$7 for a taco is just outrageous! We’re so glad we discovered this place. The food is authentic, and it’s a family-run business. Everything we tried—the tacos, tostadas, burritos, rice and beans, chips and guacamole—was absolutely perfect. I can’t even begin to describe how incredible and spicy their salsas are! We’re new to the area, but we’ll definitely be making this our go-to spot for dining!"

"I thought the vibe in the restaurant was cool, and certainly felt very comfortable. Parking is a bit tough, you should expect to park somewhere else and walk over, but that probably can be said for multiple places in the area. The menu is small, but the food packs a might punch. I found all the portion sizes to be very good and the flavor was great. From a food perspective, I would happily go back. It was the service that did it in for me. Felt a bit ignored and our meal took about 2.5 hours from our seating to paying the check. Not inherently because we wanted to stay out for that long, but everything seemed to take ages and we would rarely see our server. It is for that reason that I felt like the experience was a bit subpar."

"Nice American/Mexican? Restaurant. Ingredients are above average quality. Tacos are actually 4.5 stars. A little bit if this review is biased, since I am of Mexican heritage and have traveled throughout Mexico and lived in Los Angeles for 34 years. NOT authentic Mexican, expensive (maybe it is not intended to be Mexican). My 2 kids just wanted tacos but the waitress could not find them a la carte on the menu but said they were on the computer. So we wanted 9 tacos total and 3 waters ended with rice and beans and little mountains of shredded lettuce and one carne asada steak instead of tacos, my kid was hungry and just took the thin steak. So 2 $13 taco plates and a $20 steak for a 3 year old is not what I had in mind"
