"Where to begin? We had high hopes because of the pictures by previous reviewers. I was really excited to try the banana foster French toast and blueberry lemonade. So we ordered and the sweet waitress brought us our drinks first. My girlfriend ordered orange juice and I got the blueberry lemonade. I was so dazzled by how beautifully presented my drink was with ice and fresh blueberries only to be let down by the entire lack of lemon flavor. It was too sweet. I thought it might help to add some orange juice for the sourness but unfortunately, the orange juice tasted like Sunny D...While we waited for our food, we enjoyed checking out the cool art. We were seated next to a giant collage about the history of racism in America--a topic that I'm personally passionate about. It was an odd choice of placement though, because right at my eye level was an image of an article about syphilis...I ordered the banana foster French toast and my girlfriend ordered the shrimp and grits. I almost choked when I saw the price of the grits. $20. ? When our food arrived, it looked spectacular. My girlfriend had ordered eggs sunny side up on the side and those were served shortly after. There was a weird irregularity on the yolk of one of the eggs. There was a generous portion of shrimp and chicken sausage, but it was extremely bland. It needed salt. My French toast was sitting in a puddle of carmel-colored syrup, I'm guessing? I was expecting more of a carmel texture. The flavor was very good, although it also needed salt to counter the sweetness. I got a few bites with a little salt and it was delicious. I would have preferred to get more pecans and if I were to order it again, I'd probably order bacon on the side to add saltiness.I did want to make note, also, of the fact that the music was Christian R&B and there were several occasions where I couldn't hear what my girlfriend was saying over the sound of the music."
